During the Easter holiday, Angie Harmon’s dog Oliver was reportedly shot and passed away at her house in Charlotte, North Carolina for unknown reasons.

Oliver was slain by an Instacart delivery guy on Saturday, according to the Rizzoli & Isles actress, who is 51 years old. She revealed this information on Monday via Instagram.

Harmon said that the driver “got out of his car, delivered the food, and THEN shot [their] dog” in a post that was loaded with photographs and videos of the German shepherd/beagle mix.

“This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver,” according to her account. “Our ring camera was charging in the house, which he saw & then knew he wasn’t being recorded.”

“We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,” a spokesperson of Instacart stated in a statement that was sent to PEOPLE. We have zero tolerance for any sort of violence, and the shopper account was promptly removed from our site because of this policy. “We have been in direct contact with the customer, and we are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation,” the company said.

According to Harmon, the authorities let the driver to go because he claimed that he was acting in “self-defense.” He went on to say that the driver did not have any scratches or bites on him, nor were his trousers ripped.

During the course of their investigation, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department discovered, as stated in a statement that was sent to PEOPLE, that the driver had arrived at the residence and delivered the order. “The driver said to the cops that he was attacked by a dog while he was at the property, and that he defended himself by firing a single bullet, which hit the dog and caused it to suffer fatal injuries. Even though there was another dog present at the property, it did not attack, according to the CMPD Public Affairs. The Animal Care and Control division of the Chicago Metropolitan Police Department also arrived at the site.

There are no criminal accusations that have been brought against the driver. This is in addition to the fact that the “CMPD is not currently seeking any additional parties.”

An further statement made by Harmon on Instagram said, “He was shopping under a woman’s identity. He shot our dog while my daughters and I were at home, and he just kept saying, ‘Yeah, I shot your dog.'” Actually, I did.'”

“The loss of our cherished son and part of the family has left us in a position of being fully traumatized and beyond saddened. May Olli be laid to rest.

Additionally, the former Law & Order star added the news to an Instagram Story that she posted. “To the man who took Ollie away from us: your actions are despicable and inexcusable,” she concluded her letter. “You’ve not only robbed us of a beloved member of our family but you’ve also traumatized us beyond measure.”

“The fact that someone could commit such a heartless act is beyond comprehension to me and I’m devastated that I didn’t get to say goodbye to him,” she said in her conclusion.

Additionally, the actress’s daughter, Avery Sehorn, who is 18 years old and with whom she shares custody with her ex-husband Jason Sehorn, posted a sad Instagram Story in honor of Ollie.

Avery wrote, “Rest in peace, sweet Ollie,” and he agreed. “This is not how you were supposed to go.”
