According to information obtained by TMZ, Kanye West has requested that significant people in the music business accept his choice to go by the moniker “Ye” instead of his legally altered identity.

As stated in a letter that was acquired by TMZ, Milo Yiannopoulos, who serves as Kanye West’s chief of staff, sends a powerful message to major stakeholders in the music business, such as streamers, publishers, lyric websites, and others, requesting that the rapper be referred to as Ye going forward.

According to Milo, Kanye West did not make the choice to alter his name on a whim since he is well aware that by doing so, he would be surrendering the brand value that traditionally comes with the name “Kanye West.” Despite this, the Grammy winner believes it to be a “slave name” and has expressed a desire to abandon the pseudonym across all possible media.

He continues by saying… “Ye is a Black man in America who wants the right to full self-determination just like everyone else.”

It is important to keep in mind that Kanye formally changed his name with Ye in October of 2021. Years after he had advocated for the name’s connection to the Bible, the artist had a court give his approval for him to use his old nickname as his legal appellation rather than his given name.

In 2018, Kanye said to Big Boy, a radio DJ, that he liked the preposition Ye since it was the word that was used the most often in the Bible. However, it is important to note that this assertion was not factual.

In spite of this, Ye is not the first musician to change their name; in the past, artists such as Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Prince, Bow Wow, and Ke$ha have all changed their public personalities.

Will the music industry comply with Ye’s directives? This is the question: to Ye, or not to Ye, is the question.
