An incident that occurred on an airplane not too long ago has sparked a conversation on the internet.
The user Tammy Nelson, who uses TikTok, shared her experience of a situation in which a mother asked her to give up her window seat so that she could accommodate her two children.
Over 2.7 million people have seen Nelson’s TikTok post, which posed the question “What would you do?” in response to the viewers’ responses.

“When I mentioned that a woman was sitting in my seat on the airplane, she responded by saying, ‘Oh, you want to sit here?'” I arrived at the airport and got on the aircraft. As Nelson described it. I was under the impression that we may switch seats since these are the chairs that my children are sitting in (she indicates the two seats that are next to mine).
If there was another window seat available, Nelson would be prepared to swap seats; however, this wouldn’t be the case.
The mother, on the other hand, believed that Nelson should be seated in the middle of the group.
My seat is in the center of the row behind us, she continues, pointing to the row behind us and saying, “Mine is right there.” Nelson made a mention of this in her blog post.
@myconquering Having had only 90 minutes of sleep the night before and knowing I had to give a presentation to 500 people, I desperately needed some sleep, so I did not agree to switch seats. 🤷♀️ Before anyone comes after me… the kids looked like they were about 11 and 15 years old. And the mom was in arms-reach of both of them from the middle seat in the row behind us. The mom proceeded to complain for at least 15 minutes to the person next to her loud enough for me to hear. But the woman actually defended me – several times. It was so kind and I appreciated it so much because I was feeling really guilty. 🤦♀️ ##airplaneseat##seatswitching##airplanekarens ♬ original sound – MyCONQUERing
In addition, Nelson provided some context for the occurrence by claiming that she “desperately needed sleep” while on the trip. This was due to the fact that she had not gotten enough sleep the night before and was presenting to a group of 500 people.
Additionally, Nelson made the observation that the mother’s two children, who seemed to be 11 and 15 years old, were within arm’s reach of their mother from the middle seat in the row behind they were sitting.
at spite of this, the mother “continued to complain to the person next to her for at least fifteen minutes in a volume that was loud enough for me to hear.” On the other hand, the lady did defend me on several occasions. It was quite kind, and I am very grateful for it since I was experiencing a great deal of emotion at the time.
