More than four months after a California labor commissioner declared that Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock owed her $2.6 million in prior commissions for exceeding his legal boundaries as her manager, the singer has filed additional paperwork indicating that he may potentially owe her a considerably larger amount of money.

As of Monday, Clarkson, who is 41 years old, submitted documentation in Los Angeles stating that Blackstock has been in violation of state labor standards since 2007. This violation occurred in 2007, when Blackstock entered into an oral agreement with Starstruck Management, the firm that his father, Narvel Blackstock, established in 1988.

Clarkson’s new documents, which were obtained by PEOPLE, request a “full and complete accounting from Starstruck of all monies received by Starstruck, directly or indirectly, in connection with any and all contracts, employment, or engagements pertaining in any way to the personal services of [Clarkson],” which includes commissions, fees, profits, advances, and producing fees. This is possible due to the fact that the previous judgment, which was reached in November, only went back to 2017.

Regarding the request for comment that was made by PEOPLE, the attorneys representing Blackstock did not immediately react.

Clarkson filed for divorce in the same year that Blackstock, who is 47 years old, acted as her manager from 2017 to 2020. Clarkson had been married for seven years at the time. It was in November when the labor commissioner said that he had “unlawfully procured her work” in a manner that was in violation of the Talent Agencies Act of California.

In accordance with the act, managers are prohibited from acquiring or attempting to acquire employment for artists unless they are working in conjunction with a licensed agent. The ruling stated that Blackstock and his Starstruck Management Group had violated the act in four different instances, one of which was Clarkson’s participation as a coach on The Voice beginning in 2018.

In December, Blackstock, with whom the singer of “Mine” shares mother River, who is nine years old, and son Remy, who is seven years old, filed an appeal against the verdict, and a hearing is scheduled to take place in August.

During the month of September in the year 2020, Starstruck initiated legal proceedings against Clarkson, claiming that she was due more than $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. As a reaction, she sent papers in which she accused Starstruck, Blackstock, and Narvel (who had been married to Reba McEntire in the past) of violating the Talent Agencies Act.

The divorce between Clarkson and Blackstock was finalized in 2022, and she was ordered to make a one-time payment of little more than $1.3 million to her ex-husband, in addition to making a monthly child support payment of $45,601.

following then, she has moved to New York City and released her sophomore album, Chemistry, which is her first record following the breakup.

“I didn’t see anything else save the fact that this is my outlet. I am a person who is able to let go; I do not harbor resentment. According to what she shared with PEOPLE in January, “So it was really delving into what happened in my life and why—and what am I going to do about it.”
