An event that took place on Saturday at Morehouse College in Georgia included the comedian, who made a virtual presence throughout the occasion.

On February 29, Sinbad made a virtual appearance at the A Different World HBCU College Tour event, marking his comeback to the public eye for the first time in more than three years.

The comedian made an appearance on a giant screen in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and spoke with people who were there via the use of a video conference call.

The crowd, which consisted mostly of college students, enthusiastically welcomed the celebrity as he made his first appearance since having a catastrophic stroke in the year 2020. The entrance of the well-known comedian was received with a thunderous ovation from each and every member of the audience.

At the event, which was held to generate money for scholarships at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and to encourage college enrollment, Sinbad was a guest who came as somewhat of a surprise. The cast of the popular comedy A Different World was reunited.

After his visit, the comedian, who played the role of Coach Walter Oakes in 77 episodes of A Different World between the years 1987 and 1991, went to Instagram to express his gratitude to the kids who were there and to express his appreciation for their support.

I must say, that was very great. In an emotional video message, Sinbad expressed his awe at the opportunity to represent “A Different World” by traveling to Atlanta, visiting Morehouse College and other campuses, and having the opportunity to be on Zoom and share his thoughts with the students. I can’t believe that the children are even aware of who I am. It’s very stunning.”

“I would want to express my gratitude to everyone who has been praying for me, speaking kind things about me, and supporting me at this difficult period in my life. He said that it is very significant to him. “It means so much when I hear from y’all.”

Not only did the comedian assure his audience that they could “expect to see more of me soon,” but he also noted that he is making progress in his recovery and emphasized that “miracles happen.”

“I would want to express my gratitude for your prayers, support, and happy thoughts. Their support has gotten me thus far, and they will continue to do so until I reach the finish line,” Sinbad wrote as the caption for the touching post. “It really is a different world out here!”

It was in October of 2020 when Sinbad had a stroke. During that time period, his family issued a statement in which they expressed their “faithfulness and optimism that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon.”

In November 2022, ET received an update from Phyllis Johnson, who was one of Sinbad’s close friends from college. In the update, Johnson provided information on the comedian’s health and the efforts that he was making to recover.

“He’s in the process of rehabbing from the stroke and learning to enunciate words and get his mobility back, at this time,” Johnson said reporters at the time. After that, she went on to explain that Sinbad’s present condition is not life-threatening, but it is very debilitating. She said, “Just learning to walk and talk, and doing all the things he could do for himself that he needs assistance with now.”

The work that Sinbad has done on television, including the masterpieces A Different World and The Sinbad Show, is what brought him the most fame. He most recently appeared in an episode of Atlanta and worked on the television series Rel. His most recent endeavors include both of these tasks.
