Shane Gillis finally made his debut on the stage of “Saturday Night Live” after being recruited for the show and then dismissed before he ever had a chance to host his first episode. Fans are divided on how well he did as a host.
The comic went out centerstage of Studio 8H in New York City to host the famed sketch show, and he hardly addressed the incident that got him fired back in 2019 … instead going into stuff that attracted the ire of several fans.
SG began by saying, “It is likely that the majority of you are unaware of who I am.” This program terminated my employment quite some time ago. Please don’t search that up. Thank you. Please don’t look up my name on Google if you are clueless about who I am.

Not only did he not confront or apologize for the statements he made in 2018 regarding Asian-American people, which led to his termination from his position, but he just went on with his life.
Shane, on the other hand, made the decision to jump into a whole new series of jokes, which seemed to alienate a portion of his audience.
During the course of his performance, he spent many minutes discussing Down syndrome before uttering a couple of derogatory phrases that have become banned in recent years. The footage is available for you to watch and listen to in order to hear what Gillis had to say.
Shane seems to be aware of the tension that was there in the room. He said on many occasions that he believed certain jokes would elicit larger laughs, and he also mentioned that he could definitely sense that people were not enjoying his act.
In addition, he appeared in a few significant sketches, including one that was a spoof of Donald Trump’s new golden shoes and another that he acted in with another cast member named Bowen Yang. Yang was the first Asian American to appear on the program on a full-time basis and was outspoken when Shane was dismissed.
In terms of the responses of the fans, they are very divided. You need just search for Gillis’s name on X. Other individuals are expressing their admiration for Gillis’ irreverent set, while others are criticizing him for his statements that are not considered to be politically correct.
