One of the unique clips from ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ is available on ET.
Within the forthcoming episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, Mama June and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird are going through a difficult time emotionally. An emotional conversation between Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell and her mother is captured in an exclusive sneak preview footage that was provided by ET. The conversation focuses on Anna’s struggle to accept her impending mortality while she is battling cancer.
In her words, “I think Anna just gets so wound up,” Mama June comments. “As I attempted to inquire about the doctor’s time frame, she interrupted me and cut him off. ‘Oh, I’ve heard one, five, and ten years,’ she said like that. Taking a glance at her, he stated, “You are not going to make it through the next ten years.” You won’t be around in five years, that much is certain.
“Mama, she is not even close to functioning in the real world. She had no idea that she is going to pass away so soon. Weeping. She is probably aware that she is about to pass away, but…” Pumpkin’s voice begins to drift off, and Mama June responds by saying, “She doesn’t want to face it.”
However, Pumpkin makes the observation that “But she needs to, Mama.”
After that, Mama June goes on to say that she investigated the possibility of purchasing a life insurance policy for Anna and her children, Kaitlyn and Kylee, but she was unable to do so since Anna had not yet provided the necessary documentation.
“I’m kind of shocked that Mama’s even looking into life insurance policies for the girls and for Anna, but honestly, I think that’s very important, because the girls are top priority,” Pumpkin tells the television cameras. “Eldridge [Toney], Anna’s husband, is not even the biological father of the two children that they have together. The fact that Kylee’s father is still involved means that he would be entitled to custody of her under the law. On the other hand, Kaitlyn does not have a father either in her immediate vicinity or in the picture at all, so the question is, “Where is she going to go?”
Pumpkin says, “The cancer part wouldn’t be so bad if she would just fix the stuff that needs to be fixed, get her affairs in order, and then we’d all be able to just hang out and worry about spending time with her.” This is a reference to the talk that she had with Mama June earlier.
“She’s in the reality that Eldridge, just because they’re married, he’s going to get the rights, but that’s not the case,” Mama June says to her daughter, expressing her agreement with the statement. It is said that she desires for Eldridge to adopt Kaitlyn; nevertheless, when the time comes and Eldridge makes a statement about the matter, she exhibits some degree of reluctance. Let’s say you don’t want Eldridge to do it, and you want either me or Pumpkin to do it instead.
“No,” Pumpkin says, despite the fact that she is taking on her nieces. “We are all trying to assist Anna in this war that she is now engaged in. I am unable to let Kaitlyn go to any other person. You are unable to transfer Kaitlyn to any other party. Anna has to keep fighting because it is the battle that she needs to continue fighting.
Pumpkin then stands up and leaves, at the same time asking Mama June to make an effort to communicate with Anna.
Mama June expresses her dissatisfaction by saying, “It’s like talking to a brick wall in there,” to which Pumpkin promptly is able to react. “Well, you wanted the f**king Mama title back, you can have it back.”
In January of 2023, Anna received the news that she had cancer at the stage 4 level. December was the month when Anna passed away after having therapy. During an interview with ET that took place many months before to Anna’s passing, Mama June expressed her knowledge that her daughter would not live.
There are moments when I feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. I am always thinking about it in my head. “We are aware that it is the end of the road,” she said. “She is in the fourth stage.” There is no way that she will enter remission. For the time being, I simply urge folks to take things one day at a time since you never know what the future holds.
On Fridays, Mama June: Family Crisis can be seen on WEtv, and it can also be streamed on ALLBLK.
