During the next fourth season of the popular Hulu series, the actress will return to play the same character.
Meryl Streep is returning for more de.adly fun in the latest installment of the Murders in the Building series.

It was announced by Entertainment Tonight on Thursday that the iconic actress, who is 74 years old, would play the part of Loretta Durkin, a character who was first introduced in the third season, in the future season, which has not yet been given a release date information. First to publish the news was the publication known as the Hollywood Reporter.

“Meryl is returning for next season because she had a tremendous time,” Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, said in an edition of the publication’s TV Top Five podcast that was released on Friday.

Streep’s character is the love interest of Oliver Putnam, played by Martin Short, and was regularly considered a suspect in the loss of Ben Glenroy, played by Paul Rudd, in the season before this one. In the conclusion, it was finally revealed that she was innocent of the murder and, after a fantastic debut onstage in Putnam’s musical, Durkin finds herself getting offers from acting roles before picking one and declaring she would be departing for Los Angeles.

Although Putnam informs her that he is unable to go to the Golden State with her since he is a real New Yorker and can only tolerate California in limited doses, he does vow to visit her despite the fact that he is unable to move to the Golden State. In a similar manner, Tobert, played by Jesse Williams, extends an invitation to Mabel Mora, played by Selena Gomez, to accompany him to California for the purpose of being employed there. In addition, she does not accept his offer; yet, it is possible that this does not mean the end of their relationship.

In the beginning of this week, Entertainment Tonight (ET) announced that at least a portion of the fourth season would take place in Los Angeles. This comes after the first three seasons were set in New York City. During an interview with Deadline that took place on Saturday, the president of Disney Television Group, Craig Erwich, provided some details on the nature of that.

“Well, I’m very excited to see Steve [Martin], Martin [Short] and Selena [Gomez] take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles,” Erwich said. “So in the same way that John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about.”

Molly Shannon, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, will be joining the cast of the Emmy Award-winning series for the future season, according to a report that was published by Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday. This news comes after the announcement that the fourth episode would have a different scenario. The actress who plays The Other Two will make an appearance as a recurring character with a storyline that spans the whole of the series; however, the specifics of her role are not yet revealed.
