At the Grammy Awards, Billy Joel has made his return. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, the singer, who is 74 years old, astonished the audience by singing at the event for the first time in almost twenty years of their lives.
His new single, “Turn the Lights Back On,” which was his first official song since 2007, was masterfully sung out by the music star, who was accompanied by his piano. It was almost as if no time had gone since his last performance. An enthusiastic round of applause was naturally given to Joel.

While he was on the red carpet with his wife, Alexis Roderick, and his three daughters, Alexa Ray Joel, 38, whom he shares with his ex-wife Christie Brinkley, and daughters Della Rose, 8, and Remy Anne, 6, whom he shares with Roderick, Joel and Roderick discussed with Entertainment Tonight the music that their family listens to while they are at home.
Roderick said, “No, we do not,” when given the question of whether or if Joel listens to his own music at home. “Our children do.”
“So, we have a lot of Taylor Swift, Billy Joel, Olivia Rodrigo, but they’re his biggest fans,” according to Roderick. “All right, so. They are eager to hear it on a consistent basis.
“Maybe they’re doing it because they dig it, but I think they’re doing it to annoy me,” said Joel jocularly. They continue to perform the song ‘Piano Man.’ It drives me completely insane.
It has been a very eventful week for the winner of the GRAMMY Legend Award, as he released “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first new song in seventeen years, on Thursday.
According to Joel, who made the announcement in 2023 that he would be ending his historic monthly residency at Madison Square Garden this year, this marks the beginning of a new era for him. In the month of July, he will perform his last act at the renowned theater in New York City.
