In later years, she became acquainted with the attorney Harry “Skip” Marcus Brittenham, and in 1992, she wed him. In June of the year 2000, they welcomed a daughter into the world who they called India Rose.

Unfortunately, Heather Thomas became hooked to drugs while she was at the pinnacle of her career. However, she confessed in an interview with People Magazine in 1985 that her substance abuse goes back to when she was younger.
At the time, the actress said that she was only in the sixth grade when she began “taking acid.” However, at the same time, she was thriving in terms of her academic performance, which led her to the awful conviction that the drugs were beneficial.

“At the time, I was smoking acid and getting perfect grades… When she remembered it, she said, “I just thought it was mind expanding.”
When Thomas featured in “The Fall Guy,” the world was unaware of the fact that she suffered with drug addiction. Along with taking dosages of Lasix, she also took a significant amount of cocaine. This was a secret that she kept from the public.
In the course of her chat with the publication, the actress compared the phenomenon of drug use to the concept of a “honeymoon.”
Initially, I was in the honeymoon phase of my relationship with the medication. I had the impression that I was getting a lot of it for my money. The ability to remain up all night and then work all day the next day was made possible by it, she claimed.
Unfortunately, her addiction became so severe that it affected not only her physical appearance but also her health and even her career as an actor. This negatively impacted all aspects of her life.
According to the newspaper, she went from weighing 125 pounds to 105 pounds and even fell asleep in between takes. This was reported at the time. Thomas made the admission that she had the sensation that she was in a “mini coma.”
The actress phoned her manager after she fell out in front of Lee Majors, and her parents were subsequently informed about the event after it was brought to their attention.
Thomas, like the majority of individuals who deal with drug addiction, ignored her difficulties for a number of years. However, when her family eventually faced her, she resolved to change for the sake of improving her life.
According to the publication, her family made the decision to organize an intervention. When the actress’ mother called her, she informed her that her father was in the hospital. This was the beginning of the situation.
It came as a surprise to her to discover members of her family and friends waiting for her at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica when she first got there. It was revealed that the scheme was nothing more than an attempt to confront her with her addiction.
Thomas expressed gratitude for the intervention because she feared that if it hadn’t taken place, she may have been fired from her work or perhaps passed away from her illness.
At the time when she was confronted, it was discovered that she had pneumonia, damaged lungs, and swollen kidneys. This information was discovered some years later. The signs and symptoms were obscured by her drug use.
She said, “The doctors said that I should have been dead three years ago,” and she was correct.

Thomas participated in a program at the hospital that lasted for three weeks and consisted of daily injections of vitamins and potassium. The goal of the program was to restore the chemical equilibrium in her body.
The actress was grateful that her family had put her in a drug treatment program since she was able to withstand the therapy.
In her words, “It was a huge relief to me,” Heather adds. The statement that she made was, “I’d been on a roller coaster, and I wanted to get off.”
The reason why Thomas made the decision to withdraw from acting in the 1980s was because of stalkers. She said in an interview with Reuters in 2009 that there was a period in time when a man climbed over her fence while carrying a knife.
Later in her career, the actress went on to become a writer and a political activist. Thomas and Lee Majors got back together in 2022 at the Fanboy Expo in Orlando, Florida. While they were there, they posed for a portrait together, and she looked more beautiful than she ever had before.
