When there are important events, it is ideal for the family to be whole. This allows the person who is celebrating a significant milestone to experience amazing moments and memories with the ones they love the most.

There are, however, certain individuals who are unable to attend every event or gathering because of particular conditions, such as old age. This is because it is difficult for older people to travel for extended periods of time.

One soldier fought all barriers and even went for more than five hours only to let his grandpa to give him the first salute, and he seemed to have no regrets about the poignant interaction they had.

In a video that Amanda Penning uploaded on TikTok in June 2022, the original poster said that their grandpa was unable to attend the ceremony that her cousin was scheduled to attend to get his commission in the Army.

Nevertheless, the soldier made the decision to travel for five hours in order to see his grandpa on the very same day. This was due to the fact that the soldier had a strong desire for his grandfather to be a part of his special day.

It was possible to observe the new soldier standing outside of a home at the beginning of the video tape. Shortly after that, his granddad emerged from the house.

What’s up, how are you doing? A soldier extended a greeting to the elderly guy.

After some time had passed, the grandpa posed an emotional inquiry to him, saying, “Lieutenant, I would like to ask you a question.” Could I be the fortunate one to be the one to offer you the first salute? In response, the soldier enthusiastically agreed.

They shook hands, the elderly guy saluted him, the soldier saluted him again, and then the video concluded with them giving each other a great embrace. The old man had given him his salute.

Within the background, the lady who was holding the phone could be heard saying, “Beautiful,” just before the video shuts off…

Following that, the comment area of the video was flooded with expressions of affection and support from a variety of individuals from all over the internet.

According to the observations of one user, the charming exchange that took place between the two brought to mind her grandpa.

It is not me sitting here and expressing how much he reminds me of my father on Father’s Day, and then hearing him ask, “How is that Amanda?” Thank you so much, my heart was in need of it…” she wrote.

An further individual reacted and disclosed that they had feelings of emotion as a result of seeing the video, as they wrote: “And, I’m going to be crying.” Grandpa’s salute was absolutely flawless! Because I adore this so much! I express my gratitude to each of you for your service.

When someone responded, they said, “I needed to see and hear this God bless everyone thank you thank you for letting me see this. It is very precious and beautiful.”

“It is really a remarkable and unforgettable event and memory to own. Let me congratulate you on your new commission, Lieutenant. Someone commented, “May God bless you and thank you for the service you have provided. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.”

It is a powerful blow. This kind of love and respect is shown via the uniform and by each other. It is imperative that we return to the traditional methods of expressing pride in being an American,” wrote another individual.

“This one is giving me shivers the whole time… what a wonderful gift! One person replied, “Congratulations to the grandson and the grandfather alike!”

The new Lieutenant was then given some words of wisdom by a commenter who commented, “Grandpa was very precise with his salute.” You are very welcome, LT. When you arrive to the unit, pay attention to the NCOs in your platoon. You will be guided in the proper direction by them.

When another user performed it for the first time, they understood how wonderful that moment was. They remarked, “Well that just hit me in the feels to what it felt like to return my first salute as a new LT 15.5 years ago.” This user realized how meaningful that experience was on that particular occasion.
