On Tuesday, the star of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ gave an interview to ET when she was walking the red carpet for the 25th anniversary celebration of the program, which took place in New York City.
While Mariska Hargitay is contemplating the future of her cherished Law & Order character, Olivia Benson, she is also looking back on a television history that has broken television records.

Hargitay, who is 59 years old, was present at the special 25th anniversary celebration of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in New York City on Tuesday evening. While there, she had a conversation with Rachel Smith of ET about the legacy she hopes to leave behind for her beloved police detective character, which she has played since the show’s premiere in 1999.

Hargitay starts to shed tears as she remarks, “I hope that her legacy is that she helped a lot of people heal,” as she continues to shed tears. “People, it is much too early to be crying! Indeed, it is much too early.

She has said in the past how happy she is that her character and performance have assisted others who have coped with traumatic experiences in finding hope and resolution. Hargitay’s stint as Benson has established the record for the longest-running depiction of a character in a drama program.

She came out about a traumatic experience she went through in her life many years ago, when she was sexually assaulted by a friend while she was in her 30s, in an editorial that she wrote for People earlier this month.

The choice that Hargitay made to tell her tale was discussed in detail during an interview with ET. Are you aware that I believe it was time? When she says, “And I was shored up enough and felt safe and ready, so I was excited, really excited, and it’s been a beautiful moment,” she is emphasizing that she was excited.

In her 30s, Mariska Hargitay has revealed that she was sexually assaulted by a friend.

She has been showered with love and support, according to Hargitay, from her fans, her husband, Peter Hermann, and her co-stars on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, she stated in response to the editorial.

“There’s a lot of love in the people that created this show and a lot of intimacy and an incredible amount of respect and trust and honor,” Hargitay elaborates. “So I think that we all honor and respect each other.”

“It’s been a privilege for me to work with them and to have such an incredibly intimate relationship with all of them,” according to her. “So this feels like family tonight.”
