It has been announced that Elton John has been invited to join the EGOT hall of fame.
The Rocket Man singer, who is 76 years old, was awarded an Emmy for best live variety special for his performance in Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger’s Stadium. This accomplishment allowed him to join the exclusive group of celebrities who have been honored with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
In her presentation for his nomination, Amy Poehler, who was the one who delivered the award, made a veiled reference to his new status by stating, “Now I can’t speak for Elton but, ‘EGOT’ to be excited about that.”
The producers of the program walked forward to collect the award on John’s behalf, stating that he “sent his love and thanks” to the voters. John did not attend the ceremony to accept the prize, but they did so on his behalf.
Due to the fact that this was going to be Elton’s very final concert in North America while he was on tour, we were aware that this performance would be historic. While collecting John’s Emmy onstage, one of the producers said, “We knew it would be historic because it was Disney’s first ever live global stream.” John’s Emmy was being accepted by Disney. “We were unaware that it was going to be a momentous occasion because it was going to be a victory for a guy who has composed the music that surrounds each and every one of our lives. He is the one who is all of our heroes since he has done so much good for society. We had no idea that it was going to go on to garner him an EGOT nomination.
John, who is now the 19th person in history to ever win the coveted four prizes, stated in a separate press statement that was issued following the victory, “I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight.” Getting to this point has been a journey that has been filled with passion, devotion, and the unflinching support of my fans all around the globe.
This evening is a demonstration of the power of the arts and the pleasure that they bring into each and every one of our lives. I would want to express my profound gratitude to everyone who has been there for me during my professional journey.

A total of three Emmy nominations were earned for the documentary Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger’s Stadium, which was released on Disney+. During the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which took place on November 20, 2022, the singer conducted the filming of the program. In addition to that, a documentary with the title Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend was also published at the same time.
According to Bob Chapek, the Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, “There are no superlatives left to describe Elton John and his impact on music and culture — he is simply unrivaled.” Another thing that he mentioned was John’s long-standing connection with the corporation, since he had written the score for the film The Lion King in 1994. “Like a good Disney story, Elton’s music has both universal appeal and the ability to connect with audiences on a deeply personal level.”
In November, John had a performance at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, which was his third time playing at the stadium. This performance also marked his 2,000th concert in the United States. Los Angeles, San Diego, Tacoma, Washington, and Santa Clara, California were among the other cities in which he gave performances.
“This year will see my grand finale in North America, playing stadiums all around the country, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had,” he said during the concert tour. Please accept my gratitude for accompanying me on this adventure. I will always treasure the moments that we are creating together. It has been nothing short of wonderful, and I am looking forward to seeing you very soon for the very final time, on my Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
In November, the veteran performer made the announcement that he and his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin had recently completed a new album. This was the first time that the two had collaborated on a musical project.
“We’ve just finished an album in Los Angeles, which is going to surprise the s— out of you,” John said to the crowd in the film that was taken by fans of the event. “It’s absolutely wonderful, and it’s full of youth, and it’s full of vitality,” John stated of his next album. “It’s full of everything.” As a result of the fact that we have been together for 56 years, this location is very amazing.
