The popular medical drama that airs on ABC will be canceled in the year 2024.
Make sure you are prepared to part ways with Dr. Shaun Murphy.
ABC made the announcement on Thursday that the upcoming seventh season of The Good Doctor would be the last season of the show. “The Good Doctor has been a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it is time to say goodbye,” stated co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman, along with fellow executive producer Erin Gunn, in a statement when they announced their decision to end the show. “The work that we have accomplished and the message that we have had the honor of being a part of are both things that we are really proud of. We are excited to provide the series conclusion that you all deserve, which includes our wonderful fans, the genuinely remarkable Freddie Highmore, the rest of our great performers (and friends), and the finest staff in the industry. Congratulations! I would want to express my gratitude to Sony, ABC, and all of you.
Over the course of six wonderful seasons, The Good Doctor has decided to part ways, as the network announced on Instagram. “Join us for the farewell season Feb 20 on ABC and Stream on Hulu.”
In The Good Doctor, Freddie Highmore plays the role of Shaun, a young surgeon who suffers from autism and savant syndrome. Shaun “has worked tirelessly to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.” The Good Doctor is based on a Korean television series. Additionally, it focuses on Dr. Murphy and the other members of his staff as they attempt to balance the realities of their personal lives with the life-or-dea.th circumstances that they are constantly confronted with at work.
Highmore, who is 31 years old and also acts as an executive producer, released a statement in which he reminisced on his time spent working on the popular series. “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life,” according to him. I will be eternally thankful to David, Liz, and Erin, as well as the vastly brilliant and wonderful actors, writers, and crew members who were responsible for making this program a reality. Deep concern is what brought us to this point. Sony and ABC, as well as everyone who has watched along at home, are all deserving of our gratitude. In the name of love from Vancouver… Tequila, come on now!
Through an emotional message on Instagram, Fiona Gubelmann, who portrays the role of Morgan Reznick, expressed her departure from the program. It’s been an amazing trip all the way through. A huge thank you goes out to our incredible actors, crew, writers, and producers.I have a deep affection for each and every one of you, and I will always cherish the time we spend together. ❤️ We are grateful to each and every one of our devoted followers from all corners of the globe who have accompanied us on this adventure. You are the reason why we are doing this.
While everything was going on, Will Yun Lee, who plays the role of Dr. Alex Park, said in his Instagram post, “It’s been a great trip with @thegooddoctorabc ❤️ Being able to portray the role of Dr. Park has been really an honor. I would want to express my gratitude to all of the fans who helped make #TheGoodDoctor an even more memorable experience. For the last six years, I have had the opportunity to call the actors, crew, and producers my family. I shall miss them immensely. I bid you farewell, 🧑🏻⚕️🩺❤️.
