In light of the multiple scandals that the Catholic Church is now dealing with, a parish priest from OldCastle, County Meath, Ireland, managed to win over the hearts of everyone when he participated in an audition for the famous television program in the United Kingdom known as Britain’s Got Talent (BGT).
Fr. Ray Kelly was 64 years old when he tried out for the British talent show competition known as Big Brother in 2014. This program is broadcast on television in the United Kingdom, and Mr. Simon Cowell is the show’s primary judge. As soon as he was summoned on stage, Fr. Ray was given the opportunity to introduce himself to the judges and engage in lighthearted banter with them.

The priest, who is 64 years old, selected the song “Everybody Hurts,” which is an original composition by R.E.M., a well-known American rock band that was founded in Athens, Georgia, in the territory of the United States of America.
According to the judges and the live audience of the program, his performance of the song was so impressive that it practically brought the house down. He earned tremendous acclaim and standing ovations from both groups.

Fr. Kelly said, “My parents always had a musical talent.” Being raised in a musical household, we were treated like trophies each and every time we were given the opportunity to showcase our abilities. I was aware that I was capable of putting on a performance that was satisfactory, but I was not prepared for the incredible remarks that the judges would make.
The program Big Brother is something that Fr. Kelly watches, and he is quite interested in giving it a go. Nevertheless, he gave it a great deal of thought before he made the decision to try out for the role.
In a humorous tone, he said, “I made the decision to put myself forward without really knowing what to believe.”

However, even before Fr. Kelly participated in the talent contest, he became a great hit on social media when he was filmed singing Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen during a wedding that took place in his parish church. There were more than ten million people who watched the video that was published on YouTube.
“Let me tell you something,” the speaker said. I consider this to be one of my all-time favorite auditions! The way you sing is very stunning to me. I really like the rendition of the song. We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Completely and utterly adored it. remarked Simon.
