During the month of December 2017, which was meant to be Duke’s 71st birthday, Ali, Sean’s daughter, paid tribute to her grandma’s legacy by publishing a spine-chilling side-by-side picture of herself and her grandmother.
I had just received my first major review, and this was the very last text message that my grandmother ever sent to me. It said, “Ali dear, Pops and I are so proud of you.” Congratulations for receiving such a fantastic review. It would have been wonderful to see you. You did very well, and we are not shocked by it at all. All the time, we are thinking about you. The caption on the photo said, “We love and miss you a lot, #pattyduke,” and Ali penned it.
One of the photographs was a picture of Duke while she was still a child, and the other was a contemporary photograph of Ali at the moment.
