Phoebe Cates and Kevin Kline, both actors, did not experience love at first sight when they first met each other; yet, their fateful first encounter has resulted in a marriage that has lasted over three decades.
An audition in 1982 was when the couple first met, and seven years later, they tied the knot. They went on to have two children, both of whom were brought up in New York City, which served as their primary residence.
On the other hand, Kline originally had some reservations about the two of them being compatible. The actor said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2002 that he had the thought, “When I first met Phoebe, I remember thinking, ‘She’s too happy to be with me.'” ” “She has an excessive amount of enthusiasm for life…. What are we going to speak about?'”
Despite the fact that Kline and Cates keep their love story relatively quiet and that Cates herself has left the performing industry for the most part, they continue to be one of the most popular couples in Hollywood.
Information on Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates’s relationship is provided here.

During a read-through for the film The Big Chill in 1982, Cates, who had just seen the critical and commercial success of the groundbreaking adolescent comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High, came into contact with Kline, who had a background in classical theater. Although Cates was not chosen for the part, Kline was, and it has since become one of his most well-known roles. After a few years had passed, they would run into one other once again at the New York Public Theater, where both performers were actively engaged in the production of separate productions. Soon after that, they struck into a romantic relationship.
Kline was 41 years old when they tied the knot, while Cates was 25 years old at the time. Kline addressed this topic in an interview with The Guardian in 2014. “I was 40-ish when I finally stopped obsessing about acting and thought it would be nice to have a life and actually got married,” according to him. It would have been quite unlikely that I would have had any children if I had married someone who was the same age as me. ‘Hey, we could create kids; would you want to get married?’ I didn’t say anything on purpose. Simply put, that is how everything transpired.”

On March 5, 1989, the performers tied the knot in a ceremony that was held in New York City and was quite secret.
In the year 1991, the couple had their first child, a son named Owen Joseph. After the birth of her daughter Greta Simone in 1994, Cates decided to put her career on pause in order to focus on raising her children.
“In order to ensure that we are never working at the same time,” Kline said in the year 1998, “we have agreed to change our schedules.” In every instance in which Phoebe has been scheduled to work, she has made the decision to remain with the children. Although he said that he would rather be working, Kline expressed his admiration for the fact that his wife was OK with taking a break from the limelight. His explanation was, “That was one of the many things I loved about her,” and he was right. “She loved acting while she was doing it, but she was not driven by it, as I had been.”
Kline, Cates, and their children had an appearance in Jennifer Jason-Leigh’s film The Anniversary Party in the year 2001. Cates was a co-star in the film Fast Times.
Currently, Greta is a member of the band Frankie Cosmos, while Owen is employed in the film business. In addition, Owen appeared in the film The Squid and the Whale, which was released in 2005. When asked about his children’s Hollywood lineage, Kline said, “One of the good things about having your parents in this job is that there is no mystique to show business.”
It’s possible that the family is preoccupied with their own endeavors, yet they still manage to spend a lot of time together. “We have dinner together at least once a week,” Kline stated of their weekly routine. “We have dinner together every week.” It is not true that the children have excluded us from their life.

In New York City, Kline and Cates have lives that are rather low-key, despite the fact that they have professions in the public eye. Although they are seen together at premieres, award events (including the Tony Awards and the Oscars), and basketball games on occasion, they try to keep their relationship out of the public eye as much as possible as much as possible.
