When Cindy Crawford is in the middle of her “little cameo” in The Crown, she is thinking about Princess Diana.
Along with a throwback photo with the late Princess of Wales, the supermodel shared on Tuesday a clip from the second part of the sixth season of the Netflix drama that is based on the lives of the British royal family. In the clip, she is heard being called out during a conversation between Prince Philip (Jonathan Pryce) and Prince William (Ed McVey).
Crawford, who is 57 years old, posted the little video clip on Instagram with the phrase “A little cameo on @thecrownnetflix 👀 I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the “Super Models”) ♥️.” When Prince William opened the door to his dorm room at Eton, he was surprised to find that his grandpa had made an unexpected visit. This scene was included in episode 5, which was released on December 14 as part 2 of The Crown’s sixth and final season.
A scenario was conceived by the Crown in which William affixed glitzy photographs of Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer to his wall, and Prince Philip was discovered to be staring at the photographs of the supermodels.

“There is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed of! Are they known by any names? In his role as Philip, Pryce posed the question. In my day, Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable, and Lana Turner were the most famous actresses.
Crawford also uploaded the image on her Instagram Story and republished the homage she gave to Princess Diana on the 20th anniversary of her passing in 2017. She added an emoji of a heart and a dove to the post.
On August 31, 1997, Diana and her lover, Dodi Fayed, were driving by automobile in Paris with a driver and bodyguard who were being trailed by photographers. On that day, their vehicle collided with a support column of a tunnel, turned over, and came to a stop in front of oncoming traffic. A moment later, Diana passed away in the hospital, while Dodi and the driver both passed away instantaneously. She had reached the age of 36.
Crawford shared a flashback picture with the princess that was not dated on the occasion of the anniversary of Diana’s passing, which occurred six years ago. She also recounted the circumstances surrounding her visit to Kensington Palace. The picture showed the two of them smiling and dressed in clothes that were quite similar to one another.
This awe-inspiring lady is now being remembered today. It was at Kensington Palace when this photograph was shot. In 2017, the supermodel opened the Instagram homage by stating, “Princess Diana had somehow gotten the number to my office and called herself to ask for me.”
My helper was at a loss for words! We were eventually able to contact, and she asked me if I would come over for tea the next time I was in London. She believed that Prince William was just beginning to take notice of models, and she felt that it would be a lovely surprise for both him and Prince Harry. I remember that as soon as she entered the room and we began chatting, it was like talking to a girlfriend. I was worried and I didn’t know what to wear, but I remember that it was like that. She was all that a modern-day princess ought to be, and she was a model for all of us to follow. May you finally find peace.

Within the context of a talk with Campbell for a No Filter with Naomi live chat on YouTube in April 2020, Crawford had earlier said that she had the opportunity to meet Princess Diana and Prince William.
Campbell made reference to the tale of how Princess Diana planned for her, Schiffer, and Christy Turlington to surprise Prince William after school on a certain day when he was around 13 years old. The 53-year-old supermodel inquired of her visitor whether or not she had previously met William, and whether or not he had similarly blushed when they first met.
Crawford said, “I believe he was 16 years old when I first met him.” “Look, I was blushing, but I don’t recall what took place. I was really frightened when I met Princess Diana and when I was at Kensington Palace because she was so utterly down-to-earth. I think there is a lot of procedure, and since I am not English, I don’t understand any of it. I remember being so terrified by her.
Crawford continued by saying that Diana extended such a warm welcome to her that it was like “going to a friend’s house.”
For some reason, I get the impression that she was wearing jeans and a cashmere sweater, and she gave off the impression of being really chill. Because of this, I was maybe a little bit, I mean, it was a little bit uncomfortable, but it was wonderful. As she reflected on her experiences, she said that “it was a very sweet day and a great memory.”
