Ryan O’Neal, an actor who was nominated for an Academy Award, has had his cause of loss disclosed.
According to a loss certificate that was acquired by The Blast this week, the actor “passed away peacefully” on December 8 at the age of 82. The cause of loss described on the document was “congestive heart failure.”
The cause of loss was listed on the certificate, and it also said that O’Neal had been suffering from “cardiomyopathy” for “years until his loss.”
There is a disorder known as cardiomyopathy, which is described by the Cleveland Clinic as “affecting your heart muscle.” This means that your heart is unable to pump blood to the rest of your body in an effective manner if you have cardiomyopathy.
Other information that was included on O’Neal’s loss certificate included the fact that he was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary, which is located in Los Angeles, and that Saint John’s Health Center was the location where he passed away.
Following the news of her father’s passing earlier this month, Tatum O’Neal, who also appeared in Paper Moon, gave an exclusive interview to PEOPLE in which she discussed her beloved father.
She released a statement in which she expressed her profound sadness at the demise of her father. What he meant to me was everything. It was clear to me that he loved me just as much as he loved me. I will never forget him, and I consider myself quite fortunate that we parted ways on such amicable terms.

Patrick O’Neal, Tatum’s brother, made the announcement of Ryan’s passing in an Instagram post on December 8th. He said that his father “has always been my hero” and that he “passed away peacefully” with loved ones at his side.
Tatum, who is 60 years old, and Griffin O’Neal, who is 59 years old, were owned by Ryan and Joanna Moore. Patrick, who is now 56 years old, was born to him with Leigh Taylor-Young. Farrah Fawcett was the mother of his youngest son, Redmond, who is now 38 years old.
Peyton Place actor has a history of health problems, including a diagnosis of chronic leukemia in 2001 and prostate cancer in 2012. He was diagnosed with both of these conditions in 2012.
In 2021, he shared his thoughts with PEOPLE on his ailments. “I am proud of them because I have made it through them. I had the impression that I had disappeared. And then all of a sudden, I am back. Although I am not the same guy I used to be, I am back.

The diagnosis of leukemia served as an impetus for Ryan’s reunification with Fawcett, with whom he had been in a romantic relationship from around 1979 until 1997. Following their return to one other, the couple remained together until Fawcett’s passing in 2009.
Ryan shared his thoughts on what he believed his legacy will be in the interview that was conducted by PEOPLE in 2021. “Oh, I’ve had so many stories told about me that I don’t even know what my legacy is,” he remarked. “I really don’t know what my legacy is.”
