Christmas is often a joyful time because people like giving presents to one another, and the majority of the time, the family is together to celebrate the unique event. Because of this, Christmas is typically full with pleasure. On the other hand, there was a tale that was filled with sorrow when a local Santa Claus made the decision to grant a youngster his wishes for the last time.
In a story that was released by BBC News in December 2016, it was said that a guy called Eric Schmitt-Matzen, who is a mechanical engineer and the president and owner of Packing Seals & Engineering situated in Jacksboro, dresses up as everyone’s favorite Christmas symbol each and every year. On a certain day, he was confronted with a surprising phone call that asked for his Santa to assist him with a peculiar case.
The information that a five-year-old kid who was suffering from an unknown medical condition wanted to meet him prompted him to instantly hurry to a hospital in Tennessee. He was informed that the youngster wanted to pay him a visit.
Because Schmitt-Matzen wanted to be “the happy guy” in order to make the little kid smile and forget about his worries, he instructed the rest of the family to remain outside the room if they were going to be sad or weep the whole time during his visit.
It’s not a joke; I beg you to leave the room immediately… In December of 2016, he remembered assuring his family, “After that, I’ll sit out there and I’ll cry with you.” This was during an interview with WCBD News 2.
The young guy was presented with a present by him upon his arrival. The present was a toy from the cartoon program “Paw Patrol” that had been purchased by the child’s mother. Due to the fact that he “could barely unwrap it,” Schmitt-Matzen assisted him in doing so.
The little child, who had been a fan of the toy for a considerable amount of time, was informed by him that he had already prepared the gift for him some time before.
At the time, he remembered that the little kid was more frightened about missing out on the Christmas celebrations than he was about dying. This is due to the fact that youngsters are often extremely innocent and do not really comprehend the notion of death.
Later on, he had a talk with the little kid who inquired about his destination after death. Schmitt-Matzen, who was dressed as Santa Claus, responded by saying that when the young man “gets up those pearly gates,” he need to inform them that he is “Santa’s number one elf,” as reported by NBC News.
The tiny kid sat up, gave him a hug, and then inquired, “Santa, are you able to assist me?” when they had finished their conversation. Unfortunately, the little kid ended up passing suddenly as he was holding him at that same time.
“When I felt the life go from him, I looked up, tears running down my face, and looked over at the window, and that’s when (his) mother started screaming,” he remembered. “After that, I stopped crying and looked over at the window.”
In the aftermath of the meeting, he departed from the medical facility as quickly as he could.
When I was in the Army, I served with the 75th Rangers for four years, and during that time, I seen a lot of things. “However, I ended up running by the nurses’ station while crying my eyes out,” he remembered.
As a result of the emotional experience, he was unable to leave it alone, and he even reached a point where he was considering his retirement from dressing up as Santa Claus. Then, however, he came to the realization that he had to carry it out in order to provide joy to the children.
“When I saw all of those children laughing, it brought me back into the fold,” she said. It opened my eyes to the part that I am expected to perform… “For both of us, for both of us,” he added.
“If somebody calls, I’ll do it,” he also said in an interview with BBC News. It is painful, but I will take it.
