When it comes to romantic comedies, Dermot Mulroney shared some words of advice with Glen Powell, who happens to be his co-star in the film Anyone But You.
According to Powell, who is 35 years old, Mulroney, who appeared opposite Julia Roberts in the classic film My Best Friend’s Wedding in 1997, had a heart-to-heart conversation with him about playing the male lead in these kinds of films, advising him not to be “ashamed.” Powell describes the conversation in the most recent edition of People magazine.
During the time that Mulroney was working on the romantic comedy, which is about a lady (Roberts) who attempts to ruin the relationship between her best friend (Mulroney) and his young fiancée (Cameron Diaz), Powell says, “I don’t think he realized this is going to be one of the things he’s known for.”
Then, Powell continues, “Don’t be ashamed of being a man featured in a romantic comedy,” he said. Being able to portray love in films is undeniably the most beautiful thing that one can do.

Powell continues by saying that the suggestion “really made me think completely different about the experience.” The film “My Best Friend’s Wedding” is considered to be a tonal comparison to this particular film. After seeing our film, a lot of people have said that it reminds them a lot of the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
In the film Anyone But You, Powell plays the role of Ben, a charming finance dude who meets Bea, a law student at Boston University, in a coffee shop. Bea is played by Sydney Sweeney.
After the unfortunate events of their first and only date, they find themselves in the same situation again, this time traveling to the same destination wedding in Australia.
For the purpose of preventing their well-meaning loved ones, particularly Bea’s parents, who are portrayed by Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths, from interfering in their private life, Ben and Bea make the decision to put on a show-mance and appear to be a couple while they are abroad.

According to Powell, “I personally enjoy the laugh-cry that occurs at the conclusion of the film.” When I was crying, I was laughing at the same time. My opinion is that our film succeeds in doing so. I believe that every single one of the best romantic comedies manages to convey that sense. In the event that you are able to make an audience laugh and weep at the conclusion of a film, you are doing quite well.
It seems like Mulroney is anxious to make audiences laugh and weep once again. At the presentation of Anyone But You on Monday in New York City, the actor said to Entertainment Tonight that he would be interested in a sequel to the film My Best Friend’s Wedding.
“Yes, don’t worry, I’m in!” As Mulroney put it. It makes me really happy to learn that Julia is, as you may say, finally coming to her senses.
During recent appearances on Watch What Happens Live and CBS Mornings, Roberts was asked about her want to return that romantic comedy. His response came after she indicated her desire to do it.
“I was amazed to hear her kind compliments this weekend,” Mulroney proceeded to say to Entertainment Tonight after the previous statement. “You know I would love to work with her any day of the week, month or year.”
Theaters will be seeing Anyone But You on December 22.
