On her way to Italy to conduct her eight-date “A Tour of Italian Days” tour, Smith became unwell soon after landing in Bologna. This caused her to miss the rest of the trip. In addition to Ancona on November 28, Bari, Naples, and Modena were among the tour stops that Smith had scheduled in Italy prior to her admission to the hospital.
