According to the description that Mike added to his prom picture post, “This is my son Jon with his prom date Maddi.” A junior with autism, he is a student. Maddi, a senior, approached me in my office (I teach at their school) about a month ago and inquired as to whether or not Jon’s parents and I would let her to accompany him to the prom.
The next thing that Mike did was explain that Maddi had met Jon via a school group that encourages friendships between children with exceptional needs and children who do not have special needs.She proceeded by saying, “He is a junior, which means that it is also his prom.” Simply put, I believe that he ought to be given the choice to leave. My response to her was that we would be delighted to have him join her.
Maddi made the decision to accompany Jon to her senior prom because she wanted him to have the most memorable evening of his whole life. By doing some research, she was able to determine that orange was Jon’s preferred color, which allowed her to purchase a clothing in that particular shade. Additionally, she made a reservation for their group at a restaurant that offered his favorite dishes, which included chicken fingers, French fries, and chocolate milk. While they were there, they shared the table with another couple.
Before asking Jon to the dance, Maddi wanted to make sure that he had checked with his father.

After the picture of the couple that went viral at the prom was originally released in 2013, Mike Larson continued to offer updates on what happened to the couple after the prom.
2019 was the year that he celebrated the one millionth time that his post was shared, as well as the worldwide dissemination of his material. Then, he went on to say how everyone was doing, saying, “Many people have been wondering how Jon is doing.” “He is doing well and is content, and he is still at home.”
