Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are two conditions that are very challenging for families to deal with jointly. It is not only the patient who is impacted, but also the family of the sick who have to suffer the hardship of witnessing their loved one experience mental decline.

Even if everything is difficult, there are periods of brightness that may be found even in the darkest of circumstances. This information was just disclosed to Elaine Rusk by her father, Norm, during a chat that they had.
It was reported by the Sun Chronicle that Norm was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in the year 2014, when he was 89 years old. Even though it was a sad diagnosis, his family continued to gather behind him throughout this difficult time. Elaine made the decision to take on the role of full-time caretaker for her father. Playing games and taking in the splendor of nature in the vast outdoors are two of the activities that the two perform together throughout the day.
One of their most cherished pastimes that they do together is painting with watercolors. When Elaine was a child, she recalls her father painting amazing works, and this activity has a particular significance for her because of this memory. Norm was compelled to give up this passion as he grew older since life got in the way and he was unable to continue it.

In a fortunate turn of events, Elaine recalled the immense pleasure that painting offered to her father, and she made the decision to encourage him to take up painting once again when he moved in with her. It was the loving daughter’s responsibility to ensure that her home was equipped with paintbrushes and paint so that Norm could once again take pleasure in experiencing this time spent with art.
