Theresa Nist is the only lady the retiring restaurateur knows, and she is his only remaining partner.
The most agonizing choice that Gerry Turner has ever made is now on the table. During the season finale of The Golden Bachelor, which took place on Thursday, the retired restaurateur, who is 72 years old, made the decision to leave his romance with Leslie Fhima in order to embark on a romantic connection with Theresa Nist.
It was on the final episode of the previous week when Gerry shared with Leslie his belief that she was the lady he could not see his life without. In spite of this, Gerry went ahead and went on his date with Theresa at the Fantasy Suite. After the date, he made the statement that he felt as if “it’s the first day of the rest of my life.”
Both of them are the ones I’m in love with, and I’ve made sure to tell them, ‘I love you.’ Gerry informed the cameras that were capturing Leslie and Theresa that he could see a life together with each of them. “… At this point, I am aware that I am unable to delay it any longer. Whatever the case may be, I believe I have arrived at a conclusion.
Despite this, Gerry made the decision to present both Theresa and Leslie to his respective families. Jesse Palmer, the presenter of ET, said that Gerry’s choice was his way of “letting the thing play out until the very, very end.”
I had the impression that he was really receptive to every discussion and every time that he shared with these ladies, with the possibility of opening up new avenues and learning more. Jesse said, “I believe that he was really excited to put that into action.” “Part of that is the women meeting his family, but I think a big part of that too is just the time that he spends and the chemistry that he has, and just being honest with himself.”
After Theresa had their blessing, Leslie came to meet Gerry’s family. Everything went smoothly for her as well, which led to even more doubt for the main man. Gerry’s family had already given their okay to Theresa.
Despite the fact that Leslie was overjoyed with the way things were going with Gerry’s children, Jenny and Angie, as well as his granddaughters, Payton and Charlee, she had a feeling that something was wrong with Gerry, who she believed did not seem to be appearing “quite himself.”

“Be happy,” Gerry encouraged Leslie after he had hugged her through her tears to comfort her. She said, “Enjoy yourself as well.”
After exchanging a long embrace at the entrance, Leslie said, “Is there something you want to tell me?” after the two had finished their embrace.
The response he gave was, “I am faced with a difficult choice.” “It’s harder than I ever thought possible.”
After leaving Leslie’s room, Gerry sat on the stairs and sobbed uncontrollably. He was overcome with emotion. While everything was going on, Leslie said to the cameras, “I am not at all confident at this moment.” I am aware of the reason why he was absent today. I am aware of the reason.
When Gerry went back to Leslie’s room to speak to her once more, he made the decision to put a stop to everything for good.
“It’s been difficult and I’ve kind of made a decision about how I want to go about this,” according to him. “I have fallen in love with Theresa, and that’s the direction I’m going to take.”
She questioned if what he told her in the Fantasy Suite was “a complete and utter lie,” which he rejected by adding, “At that time it was the truth.” She thought that he was lying to her.
“Had I known this is how much pain I would’ve caused someone, I never would’ve taken the first step in this journey,” according to Gerry.
When asked about the situation, Leslie said that it was “typical” of her life and that “no one chooses me.”
“You made it seem as though you picked me,” she said. You made statements that gave me the impression that this was going to be the end of it,” she sobbed. “I was following you along a route, but suddenly you changed directions and abandoned me at that point. I have the same sentiment. To be quite honest, it’s mind-boggling.
In response, Gerry said, “I’m sorry. While I wish there was something I could say, I am aware that there is nothing I can say.
Theresa is a wonderful young lady, Leslie said, but she also expressed that she is “blown away” by the unexpected turn of events.
During the time when Leslie was crying in front of the cameras, Gerry exited the room for the second time.
“I’m tired of putting myself out there,” according to her. “Time is running out.”
Considering that Jesse had previously said to ET, “I think that’s the most emotional goodbye that I’ve ever seen in the show’s history — from Bachelor, Bachelorette, Paradise,” it should come as no surprise that the moment was an emotional one. It is pretty upsetting, if you ask me. “It is a wrenching experience.”
With Jesse at his side, Gerry was also in the process of breaking down, saying, “I took a really good person and f**king broke their heart.” And I despise myself… I believe that the only moment in my life that I have ever felt worse is when my wife passed away, and this is a very close second to that.
“That moment, that talk with Gerry, was about as raw a conversation as I’ve had with anyone, probably the most raw that I’ve ever seen or I’ve ever had with anyone since I’ve been hosting the show,” Jesse had previously disclosed to ET. I am not going to be able to forget that particular moment. For the simple reason that I could tell that it was really distressing for him. Simply said, the manner in which he articulated it was quite visceral. I am completely at a loss for words to adequately express it. To put it simply, it was really intense.
Leslie came up and shared her thoughts with Jesse during the live section of the program. She said, “The grief that I had, the blindsidedness that occurred to me, all those feelings seeing it again, I’m experiencing it again… I was in utter disbelief. Throughout the whole of this ordeal, I remained unashamedly myself… Considering how long it has been since I’ve been in love with someone, it’s a challenge for me. It takes a lot of effort.”
“I was just so distressed because… I was quite certain that I was his girl [because to] things that he said to me when we were spending the night together and… Suddenly, I had the feeling that I might be a part of their family in an instant… She continued by saying, “I just didn’t expect that.” “… I went and chose out a dress, I prepared my vows, I envisaged us spending a life together… I had every aspect of our lives mapped out for us. As a result of his shooting me so high, the fall was a lot more difficult for me.
The next step was for Leslie to get back together with Gerry, and she informed him that she has had “time to process” and that she is “much better” than she was when they broke up. In her conversation with him, she said that she had fallen in love with him “for so many reasons,” and she went on to say, “I wanted to give you that until passing do us part”.
After that, Leslie proceeded by complimenting Gerry’s honesty and stating that, as a result of it, she believed his comments at face value. According to Leslie, the things that he spoke to her on their overnight date left her feeling “one hundred percent” certain that she was his girl.

Gerry expressed his regret, stating that his “heart wasn’t ready” for the procedure, which he described as becoming “more and more difficult” as the weeks went on. Through his explanation, he said that he gave each individual his “undivided attention,” and as a result, he became engrossed in moments with each of the women.
According to him, “You were the person that I believed was my person until I knew you weren’t,” and he went on to say that his connection “was better with someone else.”
Despite the fact that Leslie did not accept Gerry’s apologies, she clarified that she did comprehend it. Gerry continued by saying, “I wish I could have done better.”
