It has been rumored that Kelli Giddish will be returning to her role as Detective Amanda Rollins for the beginning of the 25th season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Mariska Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson throughout all 24 seasons of the show since its inception in 1999, seemed to confirm Giddish’s comeback when the revelation was revealed by TVLine on Tuesday.
With the caption “Back with my lil boo thang,” Hargitay, who is 59 years old, posted a video on Instagram that showed the two of them dancing to the song “Lil Boo Thang” by Paul Russell. They both wore clothes that were reminiscent of their personalities.
NBC, the network that airs the long-running scripted crime drama, commented in the comment area, “This is everything to me right now in this moment.”
For comment, individuals attempted to get in touch with representatives of Giddish, but they did not get a response right away.
Giddish, who was 43 years old at the time, left the show in December of last year, in the middle of the 24th season. However, she had a brief appearance in the season finale, which was a part of a crossover with Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime. Her appearance was rather brief. Rollins was expecting her first kid with Assistant District Attorney Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) throughout the episode. Rollins was pregnant and expecting her first child.
In her personal life, the actress was also expecting a child.
Late in the month of May, a representative for the celebrity revealed to People that Giddish was expecting her third child, which would be her first child with her spouse Beau Richards. Oldie Richards, their son, was born in the month of June.
Her departure on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit was officially announced by PEOPLE in August of 2022.
“Being able to play Rollins has been one of the most gratifying and privileged experiences of my whole life. Over the course of the last twelve years, I have had the enormous good fortune to be a member of the Law & Order family. Rollins is the only figure on television that can be contrasted with him. She has matured and changed, and I have also changed and evolved. According to her statement, “I started working on this show when I was in my late 20s, and I’m grateful that I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.” This statement was made after she had been a significant character on the popular series for more than a decade.
“It’s interesting because, following the show that took place last night, it does seem more authoritative today. The statement was made by her to PEOPLE. “I didn’t expect today to feel that way.” It has come to an end, and everyone has seen it. Through the process of recording that last sequence with Mariska, everyone has had the opportunity to experience it and feel all of the emotions that I did.
Rollins and Benson exchanged a tender hug in the episode that marked the end of her run as a key cast member. This occurred after Rollins’ wedding to Carisi. A staged parting between the real-life friends caused Giddish to feel pretty upset, and she stated that she was affected by it.
When Giddish was asked about the tears that she shed in front of the camera, she said, “Of course they were real.” Without a doubt.”
