Tona Herndon, who was 78 years old at the time, experienced one of the most difficult things a person could ever go through when she lost a loved one. Losing someone close to you is probably one of the most difficult things you could ever go through. Her spouse of 60 years went away after a long life together and a happy marriage.
Unfortunately, at times like this, evil individuals take advantage of people who are emotionally susceptible and who are unable to fight in order to make a fast buck for themselves. This is done in order to take advantage of people who are emotionally vulnerable and who are unable to resist.
Two weeks after her husband’s demise, Tona went to Bethany, Oklahoma, to pay her respects at the grave of her late spouse, according to a story that was distributed by CBS News in October 2013.
It must have been difficult for her at the time since she had just become a widow. Prior to his passing, she had spent the previous six decades of her life with the man who would become the love of her life.
At that very moment, another unpleasant event occurred to her, and this time it was a horrible robbery that took place while she was in the graveyard. The thief was successful in taking her handbag as well as more than $700 in cash.
“I really didn’t even know anything was going wrong until I was halfway in the car,” she recounted when asked about the time she realized anything was awry.
A few days later, law enforcement was able to track him down and place him under arrest; his mugshot was then shown on television.
As a result of this, a young man called Christian Lunsford, who was just 15 years old at the time, identified that the thief in issue was really his father.
He went into great depth about his childhood for the news organization, telling them that his parents separated when he was only two years old and that his father was seldom around in his life while he was growing up.
The last time he spoke to him was soon before his incarceration, when his father handed him money for a band tour. This was the last time he was in contact with him.
The young man pointed out that his father had always been the same way as a parent, and regrettably, previous to his case with Tona Herndon, he had also spent a lot of time in and out of prison in the past. The case included Tona Herndon.
Then, Christian began to speculate about his own life, wondering whether he would turn out to be the same as his father. He expressed his thoughts to the media source, saying, “There are times that you just feel really low, like, ‘Is that going to be me?… Am I going to end up like that?'” Christian’s father was a musician.
When the young man found out about the crime of his father, he had other intentions for himself and wanted to do the right thing. As a result, when he found out about his father’s transgression, he spoke to Tona to make apologies and wanted to meet her in the parking lot of a church.

In a heartfelt video that was published by CBS News, the two were able to connect with one another and could be seen holding hands at the end of the clip.
Tona was moved by their interaction, and she thought it was “extraordinary” that a kid of 15 years old could have such a strong sense of conscience that he felt obligated to apologize for something that his father had done.
In a later part of the video, Christian can be seen taking his wallet out of his pocket and producing $250 from inside it. He explained to her that his father had given him the money, and that he was unsure whether or not it belonged to her.
He responded, “I’d feel bad if I didn’t give it to you,” which is an expression of regret.
Tona was willing to take the money. She said that since it was hers, she had the full right to decide what to do with it; hence, she returned it to him and informed Christian that she wanted for him to go on the trip.
The discussion came to a close with an embrace between the two parties, and the individuals that encircled them looked to be experiencing strong feelings as they wiped away tears.
At the conclusion of the interview, Christian imparted some of his knowledge by saying the following to the outlet: “You’re not who your parents are… You have the potential to become whatever or whatever you choose to be, even if they do raise you.
