People engage in acts of selflessness when they notice others in need of assistance and don’t even have to think about what choice would be best in the situation. Instead, it is something that occurs to them easily. This young lady understood the importance of taking action when she saw another student in her class being tormented. It is virtually impossible to quantify the impact that she had on the lives of her contemporaries.
In the city of Phoenix, Arizona’s Atkinson Middle School, seventh-grader Haley Olson may be found. The fact that Haley is one of six other siblings means that her family does not always have the financial means to be able to buy the most stylish things. Because of this, regrettably, Haley has become an outsider among her classmates, who have teased her for the clothes that she chooses to wear.
Because the bullying had reached such a severe level of stress for Haley, she disclosed to her parents that she wanted to be homeschooled in order to remove herself from the presence of the bullies. The maltreatment of Haley, on the other hand, was not going ignored at any point. Mariah Andrew, a fellow student of hers, took initiative to assist in the process of bringing love and compassion into Haley’s life.
Mariah put together a collection of clothing and footwear for Haley to use, in addition to a bag, after obtaining information from Haley on the sizes of the garments she wears. Almost immediately, Haley felt moved and was ecstatic beyond measure. Mariah’s compassion was incomparable to anything else that she had ever encountered in her life.
Stories such as this one have the power to serve as a gentle reminder that there is still a lot of love and generosity in the world, especially among youngsters. Even as adults, we have the opportunity to gain wisdom from Mariah’s example by demonstrating compassion for people who have been abused cruelly. To be a hero does not need one to save the whole planet. It is about taking a stance against wrongdoing and doing all in our power to make someone else’s life a little bit brighter.
The acceptance of bullying among youngsters has occurred for a very long time. People have the misconception that it’s an inevitable aspect of becoming older, but that doesn’t imply that it should be tolerated in any way. If we inculcate harsh behavior in children at a young age, it will be difficult for those youngsters to ever break free of that frame of mind. Every single person has to be held to a higher level. Mariah and Haley demonstrate that being nice may have just as much of an effect as being hostile. When we exhibit kindness to one another, we demonstrate the potential for the world to become a better place. If you’re doing something just out of the goodness of your heart, you can never go wrong with that.
