This ancient lady, who is known as “the Hurricane” and is 107 years old, has not allowed her age to restrict her skills!
In point of fact, Julia Hawkins shattered the previous record for the fastest 100-meter run in November 2021, at the age of 105, while competing in the Louisiana Senior Games, which is a competition for those over the age of 50.
She is already 107 years old yet there is no evidence that she will be slowing down any time soon!

Hawkins revealed to WWNO that she hasn’t always been a runner, and that when she turned 100, one of her children suggested that she try to run the 100-yard sprint in less than 100 seconds. Hawkins was successful in accomplishing this goal. “And I did it in a great deal less time than that,” she continues. “It was a lot faster.”
At the 2021 Louisiana Senior Games, she had the goal of running the 100-meter dash in less than one minute, but she ended up running it in just a little bit more than 62 seconds. “I have done much better than that,” she said. “I have done much better than that.” “It was cold, cold, and cold.” On that particular day, however, it seemed to be the most appropriate response given the circumstances.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the marathon was seeing some of Hawkins’s old students shouting for her from the sidelines. Hawkins is a retired teacher. “At that race, I had three different students representing three different schools that I taught at,” the teacher said. They both have reached the age of 90. When I taught them, they were in the fourth grade; now, they would be 90 years old! “It tells you how old I am,” she explained to me.
She was disappointed that she couldn’t finish the 100-meter dash in under a minute, but she did win the fastest time in the 105 years and older category for the 100-meter dash (though she wasn’t surprised). Her loved ones couldn’t contain their excitement at the fact that she was able to triumph in the competition and set a new benchmark for excellence in the process.
“Well, I knew it was a possibility because there are not that many older people doing things like this,” she said. “There are not that many older people doing things like this.” “There were only a few of us when I first started running, and they weren’t exactly athletes,” I said. “When I first started running.” Just these older ladies trying their hand at something out of the ordinary. Therefore, I was often successful against those who were not very athletic.
In her spare time, Hawkins likes to tend her garden and spend time with her offspring, grandkids, and even great-grandchildren.
