Jennifer Aniston is taking some time to process the passing of her close friend and companion of many years, Matthew Perry.
Aniston has broken her silence on her co-star on Friends, Matthew Perry, and the lasting impact he leaves behind for the first time since his passing on October 28 from what seems to be drowning at the age of 54.
On Aniston’s Instagram page, she paid homage to Perry by posting a picture of the two of them together working on a set, coupled with a love text exchange that included the same photo. She also wrote in a sequence for the pair to appear in during the sitcom’s series finale in 2004, in which their characters, Rachel Green and Chandler Bing, declare their love for one another.
“Oh yeah, this one has really gotten to me… The actress, who is 54 years old, started her monologue by saying, “Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before.” “At some time in our lives, we will all feel the sting of bereavement. Loss of life or loss of love, whatever comes first. You are able to experience the moments of pleasure and appreciation for having loved someone to such a deep level when you are able to genuinely SIT in this sadness. And the affection we had for him was immense. He was such an indelible part of our family tree.
“There were never more than the six of us. She went on to say that “this was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.” “When it came to Matty, he was AWARE that he enjoyed making other people laugh. According to what he has said on his own, if he didn’t hear the “laugh,” he believed that he was going to pass away. It was a matter of life and passing for him at that point. And boy, did he achieve his goal with flying colors! We were all laughing thanks to him. And have a good belly laugh!
Aniston said that she had been reflecting on the countless text discussions that the two of them had throughout the course of their relationship, even going so far as to provide a screenshot of one of these exchanges in slide number two. “Over the last several weeks, I’ve been reading over all of the messages that we’ve sent to one another. Initially laughing, then sobbing, and then laughing once again. They are mine to cherish for all of eternity. I was going through my old texts when I came across one that he had sent me out of the blue one day. It is self-explanatory. (For further information, see the second slide…),” she said.
“Matty, I want you to know how much I love you and that I know you are no longer in any kind of discomfort or agony. I have daily conversations with you… She continued by stating, “Sometimes I can almost hear you saying, ‘could you BE any crazier?'” “Sleep well, my little brother. You never failed to brighten my day… ❤🕊”
Since their first encounter on the successful comedy from the 1990s, the two stars had maintained a close friendship. Perry had publicly thanked Aniston for her unwavering support and presence in his life only a year before he passed away.
“She was the one who made the most effort to connect with others. When asked about the actress during an interview with Diane Sawyer in October 2022, he said, “You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”
Perry disclosed this information about Aniston in his biography Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. He said that she was the one who originally confronted him about his substance abuse issue.
He remembered the challenging discussion that took place during his interview with Sawyer and said to himself, “Imagine how scary a moment that was.”

Following that month, he shared with Access Hollywood that Aniston was “wonderful” and “terrific” before revealing that he was excited to get back together with the whole ensemble as soon as possible.
“We don’t see each other as much,” he said further. “It’s been a while.” “I wish the group would see each other more times, but she’s the greatest.”

When Perry was fighting addiction and alcoholism, he was quite candid about the importance of the assistance he received from his castmates on the Friends television show.
As he spoke on the cast’s long-lasting friendship in the 2021 Friends: The Reunion special that aired on HBO Max, he felt emotional and began to shed tears. “The best way that I can describe it is after the show was over, at a party or any kind of social gathering, if one of us bumped into each other, that was it,” he stated further. “And with that, the night came to a close. You just sat the whole night through with the other person, and that was all.”
After that, he said, “You apologized to the people you were with, but they had to understand that you had met somebody special to you, and you were going to talk to that person for the rest of the night.” And it was the strategy that was successful.”
Aniston concurred with Perry’s assessment, and when he added, “It’s certainly the way it worked with all of us,” it brought tears to the eyes of another former cast member of the series, Courteney Cox. Simply said, this is how things are.
The actress from The Morning Show defined the club as being composed of individuals who “will always have your back.”
“We’ll be family for life,” she remarked of the group, which also consists of David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, and Matt LeBlanc.
The actor revealed this information to PEOPLE in the cover story he did for the magazine in 2022. He said that his co-stars were “understanding” and “patient” with him as he navigated his rehabilitation and sobriety.
“It’s the same as with penguins. “In the wild, if one of the penguins becomes ill or severely injured, the others will gather around it, walk around it, and prop it up until it is healthy enough to walk on its own,” he said. “And that’s kind of what the cast did for me.”
