Even if the chances of having twins increased by 72% between 1980 and 2018, having twins is still a rather rare occurrence. Approximately 33 out of every 1,000 babies born are a set of twins.

What are the odds of getting a set of twins that are genetically identical? There are around three or four sets of identical twins born out of every thousand total births. Therefore, once again, an unusual occurrence.

When Savannah Combs, who was 23 at the time, found out she was going to have twins, she was ecstatic. Then she came upon yet another peculiar fact: both of them suffered from Down syndrome.

Obviously, that was devastating information to hear. Both Savannah and her husband, Justin Ackerman, were well aware that some others would judge her and her children as a result of the circumstances in which they found themselves.

However, this is precisely why Savannah finds them to be so important.

“It’s very rare what they have, but they’ve been my little gems,” she stated to News4JAX. “It’s very rare what they have.”

The Middleburg, Florida resident Savannah, together with her children Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, detailed their post-pregnancy journey on the video-sharing platform TikTok, where they almost quickly garnered a following.

In one of her videos, Savannah claims that she was told to abort her babies because medical professionals predicted that they would not live.

She made the decision to keep them and give them a chance.

The fact that they were able to go to all of their prenatal appointments while they were still alive was a gift for me, Savannah added.

When she found out she and her spouse both had Down syndrome, her husband was away at military training.

When Savannah was rushed to the hospital, she had already reached the 29th week of her pregnancy. There, she gave birth to her identical twins. On May 12, 2021, the birth of Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, who are identical twin girls, took place.

Because the twins were born two months earlier than expected, they were had to remain in the NICU for a considerable amount of time before they could go homee.

She continued her explanation by saying, “They’re called mono di twins, which means that even though they had their own sacs, they shared the same placenta, which meant that they were going to be identical.”

“Mo di twins are an incredibly rare occurrence.” When Down syndrome is included in, the incidence rate rises to one in every two million.

Savannah asserts that despite the unusual nature of their condition, they are no different from any other small child.

They are capable of feeling emotions. They have a beating heart inside them. They are able to converse well. They are aware of your working methodology. “They’ll get there,” she assured me. “I promise.”

“As I’ve said in the past, they may be lagging behind, but they will get it done in the end. I was surprised to find out that these children are vivacious and headstrong little individuals.

Wonderful updates are provided on TikTok by Savannah as each child continues to accomplish new and exciting goals.

“I’m going to let them know that they’re just like us, and as long as they put their minds to it, they’re going to get there,” is what I’m going to tell them.

Despite this, there are some people who feel obligated to disparage Savannah and her family. Because of this, the young mother has been forced to defend herself from some really impolite users of social media.

One lady wrote to the mother of the child saying, “I wouldn’t want those babies; if mine came out like that, they’d be put up for adoption right away.”

On the other side, Savannah provided the best possible reaction, which she shared on Facebook.

“Thank goodness they weren’t born to you and were born to me,” I told her. When God sent these newborns to the right parents, he knew exactly what he was doing, and he knew that those parents would love their children no matter what.

I adore you women. Whoever asserts otherwise is just being unkind to others. These individuals are some of the most compassionate and kind people that inhabit the world. If you use Facebook, I’d appreciate it if you could help spread the word about this moving story.
