The R&B singer, who is 34 years old, found out on Friday, when the nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards were released, that she was up for seven awards. One of the nods was shared with her young daughter, Hazel.
The little girl, who is just 212 years old, and her mother have been nominated for an award in the category of best traditional R&B performance for the song “Hollywood,” which also includes Earth, Wind, and Fire. With this nomination, Hazel becomes the artist with the youngest age of any Grammy nominee in history.

Before Hazel was nominated for a Grammy, the record was held by Leah Peasall of the Peasall Sisters. At the time, Leah was only 8 years old when the album O Brother, Where Art Thou? was nominated for and won album of the year at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards. Hazel is now the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Grammy.
On X, which was once known as Twitter, Monét talked out about the jitters she was experiencing before to hearing the significant news. The writer stated, “Whew I am so nervous it feels like draft day.”
The singer and her partner, John Gaines, both have custody of Hazel. After making the happy announcement that she was pregnant in December 2020, Monét described her pregnancy as “absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
