The marriage of Chip and Joanna Gaines has brought them yet another victory.
This month saw the official inauguration of the newly renovated Hotel 1928, which was the newest venture undertaken by the stars of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. According to PEOPLE, the hotel was completely booked on its opening day.
In the month of August, the hotel made its 33 rooms available for its first round of bookings, which ran from November through April of 2024.
The retreat is based in Waco, Texas, the birthplace of the stars, and it is housed in the historic Grand Karem Shrine Building, which the creators of Magnolia extensively rebuilt and redesigned. The Gaines’ Magnolia Market at the Silos is a shopping and eating attraction that draws people from all over the globe. The location at 701 Washington Street is about six blocks away from the Gaines’ Magnolia Market at the Silos, which is just a three minute drive or a ten minute walk.
According to the website, there are four different room types available to guests: The Franklin, which is a standard room with either one king or two queens; The Austin, which offers “more space” and is ideally located within the hotel; The Columbus, which has the largest rooms and has a “high end” feel; and The Washington, which is a singular suite that can accommodate up to 12 guests and offers multiple sleeping and living spaces.
A variety of bespoke toiletries, minibars, turndown service, and round-the-clock concierge assistance are included among the amenities.
In addition to creating the rooms, the Gainses were involved in the process of selecting furniture for the three restaurants that were located inside the structure. They published a number of watercolor drawings, some of which can be viewed here, depicting what the completed areas will look like before they were exposed to the public.
Bertie’s on the Rooftop, located on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, provides meals inspired by the changing seasons, while the Brasserie at Hotel 1928 delivers traditional southern comfort food with a distinctively Texan spin. The structure also has the Café at Hotel 1928, which is a place where guests may get a pick-me-up in the morning or a delicious treat.
In addition, there is a retail store and a library located on the premises.
In 2017, they introduced Hillcrest Estate, a second vacation rental property that they owned. The house was built in 1903, and it has 7 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. at a post on Instagram that she published at the time at which she introduced it, Joanna said, “We definitely kept its old world charm.”
Hillcrest Cottage was added to their list the following year, in 2021. It was once used as the carriage house for the estate that has the same name. And since then, they’ve launched yet another venue known as The Carriage House. All of them may be reserved via their website whenever there are openings.
