Even while motherhood and parenting in general might look quite different depending on a culture, there is one thing that the vast majority of parents can agree on, and that is the hope that their children will be successful in whatever undertakings they choose to pursue in life. This might be referred to as the reward of motherhood for many people. The fruit of an Ethiopian lady’s labor of love and her heart-melting response were filmed when she suddenly spotted her son in his pilot uniform on the aircraft she was due to ride in. The woman was returning to her native country after spending time away from her family.
When the mother lovingly hugged her kid in the video that was uploaded on TikTok as well as other platforms, followers on social media were left feeling very affected. The video that was uploaded to TikTok on October 20, 2023 and posted by Brook Shaka Zulu highlighted how the lady glowed with joy after having spent the last three decades working as a maid in Lebanon.

At the beginning of the video, we see the mother being directed by several hostesses as she makes her way along a corridor. She wore a purple jacket thrown over a black T-shirt and black denim pants, but she had no idea that the simple moment was about to develop into one of the most rewarding times of her life. She appeared simple in her outfit of a purple jacket thrown over a black T-shirt and black jean trousers. She entered the aircraft, where an attendant examined her identification, but before she could continue, a little curtain parted to show a tall young guy dressed in his pilot uniform with a bunch of flowers and a cake in front of him.
The mom started crying as soon as she realized it was her son, while her son was comforting her with a kind hug. As she proceeded to give her kid a bear embrace and give him a peck on the cheek, she did not try to keep back the flood of emotions that were washing over her. After that, he gave them to her as she was being led into the room to take a picture with the cake.
The ecstatic mother was at a loss for words, but she made sure to show her sincere appreciation for the surprise by pressing her hands together and bending her knees ever-so-slightly. The mother continued to take pleasure in everything that being a mother has to offer right up to the very conclusion of the tape. The atmosphere of the video was made even more intense by the fact that Tupac’s popular song “Dear Mama” from 1995 was playing in the background. The phrases printed across the footage in strong font emphasized the circumstances the mother found herself in and how difficult it was for her to raise her kid. It said there:
“Heartwarming moment when an Ethiopian mother who spent three decades working in Lebanon to provide for her family discovers that her son was the pilot in common on #EthiopianAirlines on her way back home to Ethiopia.”

Because of the depth of feeling that was conveyed by the mother and kid, many users of TikTok found themselves overcome with emotion. Someone else’s words were, “He’s going to fly that plane like he has the world in his hand…,” so I’ll paraphrase them here. My aching heart… I miss my mother terribly.” Another person said, “There’s nothing as beautiful as the love between a mother and her child 😭.” One person said, “No greater tribute a child can give to their mother than to excel and make good on her sacrifices.” Someone other shared a perspective very much like this one when they said, “Confirmation she made her sacrifices and he’s the product of them.”
Internet users had a field day seeing the upbeat footage on Reddit, which is an example of a social networking website. A post on Reddit said, “The most wholesome video I’ve seen this week!” and was written by a user. I can only image how proud of her kid she must be to be a mother after everything that she has gone through to raise him. Another viewer took the opportunity to share some wisdom with the world by writing, “My mother passed away earlier this year. What I wouldn’t give to be able to spend just one more second with her in this exact state. People, show respect and gratitude for your parents.
