On Saturday, the body of Friends actor Matthew Perry was discovered inside his house in the Pacific Palisades. The death of the actor was reportedly discovered by law enforcement officials waiting in the hot tub when they arrived at the scene.
Authorities have disclosed additional data surrounding the tragedy that has shaken the whole globe and the millions of admirers Perry made laugh via his renowned portrayal of Chandler Bing; nevertheless, it will take some time before the specific cause of death is revealed to the public.
Around four o’clock on Saturday afternoon, authorities got a call from Perry’s residence, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, claiming that the actor was in a hot tub and was not breathing. The caller said that Perry was unresponsive. The name of the person who called has not been disclosed as of yet.
The Los Angeles Fire Department announced in a statement that “an adult male patient was deceased prior to the arrival of first response.” Within a freestanding hot tub, “the patient was found by a bystander who had repositioned the victim so that the head was out of the water,” as the Associated Press reported.
“Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find that he was deceased,” the statement stated.
The current investigation that is being conducted to ascertain the cause of death is expected to be finished in a few months’ time. According to the reports, there were no narcotics of any type discovered at the site, but the coroner’s office in Los Angeles County will include toxicology testing in their investigation.
According to the reports, the medical examiner has finished the autopsy, but a determination of the cause of death has been “deferred.”
The “cause of death may not be known for some time, but at this point foul play is not suspected,” said Captain Scot Williams of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division, who is leading the investigation into Perry’s unfortunate demise and is responsible for leading the division.
