Since more than a decade ago, the ups and downs of Mama June Shannon’s family have been played out in front of the public eye. Despite the fact that there have been times in the past that have put a strain on their connection, the family of reality stars has shown to be quite resilient. In January of 2023, Mama June’s eldest daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, was given a diagnosis of adrenal cancer in the Stage 4 advanced stage.

After the news broke, the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” cast and crew quickly gathered around her to provide the much-needed support she required. Mama June provided an update on her life on July 12, 2023, in which she discussed how her daughter was doing some months after medical professionals had provided the diagnosis.

The reality television career of the Shannon family got its start on the TLC show “Toddlers & Tiaras.” They first attracted the notice of people due to June’s youngest kid, Alana Thompson, who stood out, and their celebrity increased as a result of this. Anna, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Elfird, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson are all her daughters, and Mama June is a mother to all four of them.

After their appearance on “Toddlers & Tiaras,” the family went on to star in other spinoffs. Their lineup of television programs includes “Mama June From Not to Hot,” “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo: Family Sized,” and “Mama June: Family Crisis.” All of this captured the happy times and the difficult times that the family went through, including Mama June’s battle to lose weight, her struggles with addiction, her arrest, and the family’s isolation from one another.

However, ever since the year 2021, Mama June has been on a mission to mend the divide that she has with her children and finally put the scandalous years behind her. Her engagement to Justin Stroud in 2022 was a component of her rebranding effort. The couple tied the knot in a ceremony that was reminiscent of a fairytale. In the past, they went to a courthouse in Georgia to formally register their marriage.

In an interview with ET, Mama June discussed the event, and she expressed her gratitude for the support she got from her family and friends.

It was the first time that they had all been together as a family since 2014, according to Mama June, who shared this information. The well-known TV personality said that her kids were the ones who escorted her down the aisle during her wedding. It is fair to say that once again, viewers saw the Shannon family rally around their loved one, Anna, who was battling health issues, and provide support and encouragement to one another.

According to TMZ, Anna’s health problems began when she began complaining of experiencing episodes of stomach discomfort. After doing a battery of diagnostic procedures to get to the bottom of the matter, the medical professionals found that the cancer had spread to the patient’s liver, kidney, and lung.

In February 2023, one month after receiving her cancer diagnosis, Anna started receiving chemotherapy treatments. When asked about the latest information on Anna’s health, Mama June gave her followers an honest update on how they have been handling everything. She shared with ET’s Deidre Behar that her kid was dealing with the issue “pretty good.” Elfird continued, reiterating her mother’s claim by remarking that her sister “genuinely is okay.” This served to reinforce the previous statement.

Elfird added that Anna was still able to participate in everyday activities despite having completed four sessions of chemotherapy. Mama June indicated that Anna had attended these sessions. She revealed that

“She can still go to the grocery store, she can drive herself, she’s still able to take the kids to and from places.” In addition to this, she discussed Anna’s physical characteristics, stating that the reality star “doesn’t have hair, she has no eyebrows… or anything like that.”

During her sister’s rounds of chemotherapy, Eflird made a point to highlight her sister’s resiliency. The reason for this was “a lot of people thought that it was gonna make her sick and stuff like that, but she bounced back quick.”

At this moment, Thompson chimed in to say that her older sister was sometimes worn down by the therapy, but that other than that, “she’s pretty good.” Following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment, Anna may undergo immune therapy as the next stage of her treatment; however, according to Anna’s mother, she is unsure whether or not she will continue with this course of treatment.

Because the TLC parent and her family did not know what to anticipate, Anna “just wants to see how it’s gonna go,” as the TLC mom said. According to the celebrity mother, the cancer was “very aggressive” and progressed really rapidly. The fact that they had no idea what was going to happen next was “scary,” according to Mama June, but they were doing their best to take things “one day at a time.” The famous actress from the television show expressed how she really felt:

“There are moments when it’s like riding an emotional rollercoaster for me. My thoughts continually return to that topic. We are aware that it is terminal.

Anna’s health is now in the fourth stage, and Mama June emphasized that “she’s not gonna go into remission.” She communicated that the family had come to terms with it. Eflird, on the other hand, claimed that she had reason to be optimistic about her sister’s health. As the “medical field” continued to advance, she discussed the prospect of a treatment. She went on to say that she was certain that “a cure for some kind of cancer” will one day be discovered. Thompson shared the emotions of those there and said that she hoped her sister would make a full recovery.

In addition, the family updated one other on Anna’s adolescent and tween kids and how they were doing. Eflird said that her eldest daughter, Kaitlyn, was aware of the situation, even if it’s possible that she doesn’t completely comprehend it. She sent the information that Kaitlyn is aware that her mother is ill to us.

Mama June also said that the little girl, who is 10 years old, remains close to Anna and accompanies her everywhere. The family also revealed that Anna’s younger daughter, Kylee, is not old enough to completely comprehend the circumstances due to her young age. Anna was overjoyed to see her two kids, Kaityln and Kylee, who were the products of her previous relationships with Caleb Clark and Michael Cardwell, respectively.

Anna hasn’t allowed the dismal prognosis get her down, despite the fact that it’s been given to her. She uploaded a brief video of herself talking about one of her favorite sugary treats on June 6, 2023, while she was wearing a turban that covered her head. The footage was shared online. While she was speaking to the camera, she gave off the impression of having a lot of energy and often flashed a charming grin.

On May 10, 2023, she showed a friend a picture of herself in which she was once again wearing a turban. At the same time, she provided specifics of the therapy that she had been undergoing up to that point.

“Well, we are moving on to the third round of chemotherapy.this yesterday it was very good day but did get a little and Cracker Barrel was excellent going down but not up but over all it’s going well and chemo is working we come to learn so things are looking positive ” she stated in the description of the photo. “this yesterday it was pretty good day but did get a little and Cracker Barrel was nice going down but not up.”

The show’s viewers and admirers of Anna have sent nothing but words of support and prayers for the sickly actress. One worried fan said, “There are a whole lot of people out here wishing you the absolute best,” while another admirer added, “Your great!!!! And you are very courageous, Anna! My thoughts always return to you. I appreciate you keeping me informed. We are grateful for it as a whole. And all of us are here rooting for you.” A third person left the following comment: “Praying for you to stay strong.”

Others were taken aback when they learned the awful diagnosis, but they have continued to send their best wishes to Anna as she travels.

“I was unaware that it was a fatal condition. One user bemoaned, “I’m praying for her, she’s had such a tough life already,” while another user noted, “Poor Anna, she’s such a sweet person.” I pray that she will pull through this. Because she needs all of her strength, I really hope that her family is helping her out with the kids as well.
