A 97-year-old veteran of World War I goes to the Arby’s fast food restaurant in his neighborhood on a daily basis and gets the same meal.
The workers at the quick-service restaurant don’t miss a single day of work since they are always on the lookout for the meat eater who comes in to place his “normal” order.
The staff grew friendly with Doug, a veteran of World War II, and developed an interest in finding out more about the individual who reported to work every day.
After hearing more about this heroic hero and learning more about his tale, they did something so extraordinary that it moved the hearts of people all throughout the country.
Doug, a 97-year-old veteran of World War II, is aware of the things that bring him delight. His “normal” dinner consists of a roast-beef slider topped with Swiss cheese and a senior beverage, and he orders it every day. There is no ice in my Coca-Cola.

Because the veteran has become such a regular at the restaurant in Chandler, Arizona, many members of the crew were curious about learning more about him.
The workers took a short break from their busy duties in order to take a seat and pose a few pertinent questions to Doug:
“Hey, Mr. Doug, we just want to know what gets you coming back to this Arby’s location?” said Fox 7’s reporter.
Doug’s response to the employees was a statement that reminded them of how short life can be and how important it is to appreciate everything we have while it is still here with us because it could all be gone tomorrow. Although the employees expected a humorous response, such as how Arby’s knows how to serve meat that he enjoys, Doug responded with a statement that reminded them of how short life can be and how important it is to appreciate everything we have while it is still here with us.
“The only place I can get a sandwich or get food or anything else to eat that doesn’t hurt my stomach,” the struggling war veteran said of the Chandler Arby’s location. “The only place I can get a sandwich.”
Due to the stomach issue that Doug suffers from, he always places the same order for food and sits at the same table to consume it.
An employee named Travis Coye said, “He has a condition that affects his gastrointestinal system.” Regrettably, this is the only meal that he is able to consume.
Another worker, Christina Garnage, who manages the restaurant, provided the following information to Fox News:
We make an effort to seize the doors for him as soon as we see that he is approaching them with a walker.

Christina continued by stating that shortly after she began working at the restaurant roughly 32 months ago, Doug immediately incorporated the daily routine that she was responsible for into his life.
Christina claims that throughout the course of more than two years, Doug has been frequenting the same Arby’s restaurant on an almost daily basis.
“As a veteran, he’s been through a lot, coming in, being in a retirement home, but he doesn’t have relatives,” she noted. “He’s been through all of this on his own.”
The staff made the decision to do something extra special for Doug, who had risked his life for his country during World War II, and they gave him a gift card in the amount of $200.
You may reach me at any hour of the day or night.
Another manager said that the individual was taken aback and that he was at a loss for words.
Because Doug does not have his own family to lean on for support, the staff gave him their personal cell phone numbers and informed him he may contact them at any time of the day or night. Doug does not have his own family support network.
If for some reason he was unable to make it to the restaurant, they would even deliver his preferred dish to his home.
But now, the manager has presented Doug with an offer that he simply cannot decline: Arby’s has decided to provide Doug with free meals for the rest of his life, and this perk will begin as soon as he uses the gift card he has been given.
An eye doctor from the neighborhood was visiting the restaurant, and while he was there, he provided Doug with a complimentary eye exam and spectacles.
Since he sacrificed his life for his country and the globe in the 1940s, Doug has been almost completely forgotten; nevertheless, one Arby’s restaurant in Arizona has done what the federal government should have done a long time ago: they have adopted Doug as a part of their family!

What a kind and kind thing to do for this patriotic individual who has done his duty for his country and is entitled to a free meal.
It is heartening to see someone taking care of this World War II veteran and providing him with free food since, in contrast to the majority of other people, he has earned it.
