On the road to recovery, Lala Kent is celebrating a significant achievement today.
With a heartfelt statement on Instagram on Sunday, the 33-year-old actress of Vanderpump Rules commemorated five years of sobriety since her last relapse.
Kent wrote the following caption next to a picture of herself and her daughter Ocean, who is 2 years old, riding a ride in Disneyland: “I’ve been sober for 5 years today. On this day, I think back to the lowest point of my life. Everything you need to know about what went down on this particular day. After a number of years of struggling, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, woke up, and admitted that I had no control over the situation. I am very grateful that today has come.”
She went on to say, “I will continue to work hard for my sobriety, and I would like to take this opportunity to take a moment of silence for the alcoholic who is still suffering.” I am aware of you, and I adore you. I am grateful to you, God. I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
“I am beyond very pleased with you! Ocean is incredibly fortunate to have a mother like you!,” said her costar Scheana Shay, while her previous costar Stassi Schroeder added, “The most proud of you in every way.”
To commemorate the event, Kent also gave herself a sober birthday party at Chili’s in Los Angeles. Many of her current and previous costars, including Shay and Schroeder, were in attendance for the celebration.
At the restaurant where Shay, 38, was celebrating her birthday, Kent was seen in video that Shay uploaded on her Instagram Story cradling her kid as her closest friends and family sung “Happy Birthday” to her. As everyone applauded and celebrated, Ocean proceeded to blow out a number 5 candle on one of the three celebration cakes, which consisted of two pink cakes and one black cake.
A variation on Kent’s statement “Give them Lala,” the message “Give them 5 Years Sober” had been iced onto the top of one of the pink cakes.
“Tonight, at Chili’s, everyone came together to honor this remarkable lady! You should be very proud of yourself, @lalakent; you are an inspiration to a great number of people. Shay added a description to one of her movies that she had taken earlier in the evening.
The lovely event was also captured on camera by coworker Katie Maloney, who exclaimed “Yay, Lala!” as she did so. May you have a happy fifth year! “Happy 5 years, @lalakent!!! We are extremely proud of you!!! The actress, who is 36 years old, captioned the video on her Instagram Story with the words “love you so much.”
Other stars from previous and current seasons of Vanderpump Rules, including as Brittany Cartwright, Jax Taylor, and Logan Noh, were also present at the party, in addition to Shay, Maloney, and Schroeder. Shay’s husband Brock Davies was also there.
In an interview that took place earlier this month with PEOPLE, Kent discussed the reasons why she does not drink and how she hopes her daughter never sees her under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“Sobriety’s the best gift I’ve ever given to myself, and I can’t allow my daughter to ever see that version of me,” according to her.
“I am approaching one day at a time, but I am approaching five years of sobriety and my daughter is 212 years old, so obviously I stay sober for myself because staying sober for someone else is just a recipe for relapse,” said the recovering addict.
She went on to say, “But to think about the fact that my child is always going to see me in this form and never under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you can’t put a price tag on that.” I am thankful beyond words that I was able to find recovery when I did.
Ocean is a home that the creator of Give Them Lala Beauty, Lala Give, lives with her ex-fiancé, Randall Emmett.
