Even if it meant taking a road journey that lasted for 16 hours, Ree Drummond would do everything for her children.
On Thursday, the Pioneer Woman actress, who is 54 years old, said that she had been to the University of South Dakota to see her youngest son, Todd, who is 19 years old, play football for the school.
In the caption of an Instagram photograph, Ree writes, “In this photo from last Saturday, I am displaying the classic goofy, dreamy, I-get-to-see-my-kid-for-two-whole-hours empty nest sad-but-happy mom smile.” She then adds, “(I love you, Todd. )”
In the picture, Ree is smiling broadly as she embraces her happy-looking kid, who is decked up from head to toe in his football gear. Ree is decked out in the school’s colors, red and white.

In the caption, she invites her fans, “Let me know if you get it,” in reference to the contradictory feelings that can be seen in her grin. The comments section was inundated with followers who shared their own personal stories of having an empty home.
“I completely get it!! One of my followers says that they are “going through it now themselves, and it is AWFUL!!” One person said, “My guys are [in] North Carolina and Florida; living without them is the worst thing that has ever happened…. They are the ” to me.
Ree expresses her compassion to these readers and others by responding with the phrase “Hugs” or by posting an emoji of a heart.
“I leave my house and travel 45 minutes to attend a school activity for one of my grandkids, and the event might often run for less than an hour. After the event, I drive 45 minutes back home! This photograph perfectly captures the essence of what love looks like. Another person who follows this blog comments.
Ree offers this information in her answer when she says, “We drove for 8 hours in each direction.”
“It’s what we parents (and grandparents) do!” she continued to say after that.

In January, Ree, who is also a mother to Alex, 26, Paige, 23, Bryce, 21, and Jamar, 21, together with her husband, Ladd, 54, moved Todd into his dorm room at the University of South Dakota. Alex is 26 years old, Paige is 23, Bryce is 21, and Jamar is 21.
Drummond took a picture and posted it to her Instagram Story, and in the background, Todd could be seen wearing a red University of South Dakota shirt. The photo was taken when Drummond was sitting in a vehicle.
She jotted down, “Made it to SD yesterday,” and attached it to the picture. “GO YOTES! (and go Todd).”
In a post on her blog, Drummond described how her son made his decision to attend the institution only one day after seeing the campus.
On the way back to their house, she said that he “couldn’t stop raving about the school and the football program.” She stated that he had an instant like to the sporting facilities and the coaching staff. After then, on December 21, when Todd and his family were on holiday in Vail, he had a signing ceremony.
In the latter part of the day, she uploaded many additional photographs of their parting, along with the caption, “Said bye to our baby today. We couldn’t adore him any more if we tried.
As a parting message, she tells her son to “Go have an awesome experience and keep bein’ yourself, son.” Go Utah State!
