The volatile family drama is based on the lives of the Von Erich family in real life.
The first glimpse into the strange history of the family Von Erich, which really existed, is, to say the least, unsettling. The first teaser for the new A24 thriller The Iron Claw was released on Wednesday, and it featured Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White engaging in a wrestling match inside of a professional wrestling ring.
The plot focuses on the Von Erich family, which is headed by father and coach Fritz Von Erich (played by Mindhunter actor Holt McCallany). The two strong characters are at the center of the story, which follows the Von Erich family.
The roles of Kevin Von Erich, Kerry Von Erich, David Von Erich, and Mike Von Erich are portrayed by Zac Efron, Betty White, Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons, respectively. The Von Erich brothers were very successful in World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), where they competed for the duration of their careers and won a number of singles and tag team championships.

In the 1980s, the family was known as a pro-wrestling dynasty, and its members experienced both success and failure both within and outside of the ring. The unfortunate endings suffered by the brothers (five of Fritz’s six boys would pass away before their father) inspired many wrestling fans to mythologize the concept of a “Von Erich curse.”
Kevin, played by Zac Efron, discusses the curse in a clip that was only recently made available online. He says, “Ever since I was a youngster, people claimed my family was cursed. Mom made an effort to shield us from harm with God. Wrestling was one of the ways that Pop attempted to shield us.

Fritz informs his boys in what position they are in his top five list of favorite people, but he adds, “The rankings can always change.”
Later on, Efron’s character Kevin tells his mother Doris (Maura Tierney), “Dad’s too tough on us, you gotta say something,” to which she responds, “Baby, that’s what your brothers are for.” Kevin’s father is played by John C. Reilly.

Pam Adkisson (Lily James), who would eventually become Kevin’s wife, asks him what he wants, and he falls in love with her. He responds with “I want to be with my family, you know, be with my brothers.”
The intimidating father yells at his son, “Your job is to wrestle,” and then proceeds to threaten him. Hold up your end of the bargain, or we are over.”
The brothers are shown attending the burial of one of their own, which causes them to express their sorrow for a previous loss.
The dramatic work in question was created by writer and director Sean Durkin, and it seems to be great material for award season.
