Molly Ringwald is remembering some of the most iconic outfits from her cinematic career.

The actress, who is 55 years old, didn’t hold back when she was asked which looks from her past she wished she still held. “Oh my God, everything,” she exclaims to PEOPLE while attending the 2023 Fall Gala for the New York City Ballet.

“I mean, I really wish that I had my costume from The Breakfast Club, but I had to wear it every day for like three months so I never wanted to see it again.” Ringwald also points out.

“I used to have a lot of stuff but I’ve moved around so much during the years that, you know, who knows,” she readily acknowledges. “I’m sure it’ll show up on Etsy somewhere, or First Dibs.”

The actress gave an interview to Teen Vogue in February 2017 in which she discussed the classic polka dot and halter-neck pink prom dress that her character Andie wore in the film Pretty in Pink. Ringwald’s own sense of fashion served as an inspiration for costume designer Marilyn Vance as she conceived the appearance for the character. However, she admitted to the publication that she wasn’t too pleased with it when she first saw it.

“I don’t know if I was swayed by Marilyn’s passion when she talked me through the sketches or preoccupied by the algebra final I was getting ready to take in my trailer in between scenes, but whatever the reason, I signed off on the design.”

She went on to say, “Weeks later, when I finally saw the dress for the first time, I broke down in tears.” The halter neckline was the only feature I liked, and it was the only part of the consultation that I even remotely recalled. My head was spinning from the billowy sleeves and sacklike shape created by the inverted triangle, but it was too late to make any changes.

Away from the wardrobe department, the actress disclosed in April to the British newspaper The Guardian that she had chosen not to audition for the main role of Vivian in the classic film Pretty Woman from the 1990s, which was most notably performed by Julia Roberts.

“Julia Roberts was wonderful, but I didn’t really like the story,” Ringwald said in an interview with the site. “Even then, I felt like there was something icky about it.”

During the course of her extensive career, Ringwald disclosed that she had turned down or declined many other significant roles, the most notable of which were in the films Working Girl and The Silence of the Lambs.
