Jimmie Allen places a high value on quality time spent with his family.

On Wednesday, September 27, the country artist, who is 38 years old, and his estranged wife Alexis, who is 27 years old, had their third child together, a boy named Cohen Ace James. A representative for Allen told PEOPLE that the couple is sharing those first few vital moments with their newborn child together, despite the fact that they filed for divorce in April.

“As of right now, Jimmie and Lexi are focused on their new bundle of joy,” adds the representative. “Jimmie and Lexi” “At the moment, he is dividing his time between Delaware, where he lives with his family, Florida, and California, where he is working on finishing his new music, which is scheduled to be released sometime later this fall.”

The couple already has two daughters: Zara James, who will be two years old in the next month, and Naomi Bettie, who will turn 312 later this year.

After revealing that they were getting divorced in April, Allen told PEOPLE in July that he and his ex-wife are working on their future together as a team despite the fact that they are no longer married.

“The divorce case is still pending, as my wife and I are working together to resolve things as a family,” he stated. “The divorce case has been pending for quite some time.”

Allen also elucidated a statement that he had made a few days before, in which he stated that he had delayed many months before responding publicly to the pair of cases that had been filed against him because he “wanted to fix my family first.” Allen’s remark had been made days before the clarification.

He said, “When I said ‘fixing my family first,’ I meant making sure that their mental health and stability are okay in light of these hurtful and false allegations.” It was important to me to make sure that my wife, my children, and my friends were all doing well, so I took some time off work to be with them.

Allen and Alexis were married in June 2020, however on April 21 they shared the news that they were divorcing each other along with the information that they were expecting another child.

According to the records that were acquired by PEOPLE, the singer of “Down Home” filed for divorce on April 28, and two hours later, Alexis followed suit with her own request for divorce. Both parties highlighted incompatibilities that could not be resolved. Since then, Allen has submitted a petition to combine the two files into a single complaint; however, the hearing that was originally scheduled for June 1 has been postponed indefinitely.

In addition, Allen publicly apologized to Alexis in the month of May. In a post on social media, he said that he was sorry “for humiliating her with my affair.” It’s embarrassing that my decisions have caused her to feel ashamed of herself. That is something that she in no way merited, and she should be ashamed of herself.
