On the day that would have been Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s 41st birthday, Ellen DeGeneres is paying tribute to her friend and fellow comedian, who passed away.
The former daytime television personality remembered Boss, who worked as a DJ and producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, with a heartfelt message on Instagram that served as a moving tribute.
“May you have a wonderful birthday, tWitch. “I love you, and I always will,” was the remark that Ellen DeGeneres, who is 65 years old, added to a photo of herself and her husband beaming while onboard a private jet.
Allison Holker Boss, wife of the So You Think You Can Dance fan favorite, shared her own tribute earlier in the day on Instagram. In the post, she reflected on how she honored the memory of her late husband by paying respects at his cemetery with their three children.
“In honor of our gorgeous, charming, good-natured, and beloved Stephen tWitch Laurel Boss. In the beginning of her caption, she wrote, “Forever on our hearts and minds carrying us, guiding us, and lifting us.”
“We feel your presence every day and will be forever grateful for the beautiful times we shared together,” she said, following photographs of her children spending time at his grave. “We will forever be grateful for the beautiful times we shared together.” “We feel your arms wrapping around us and supporting us on this day,” you said. “We are here because of you.” Happy birthday, my dear @sir_twitch_alot, a day on which we will always appreciate the gift you were and still are to this planet. I hope you have a wonderful year ahead. We’re in love with you!

Allison, then 35 years old, was introduced to the dancer, DJ, and producer in 2010, when they both participated as all-stars on season 7 of SYTYCD. They finally were married in a ceremony that took place in Paso Robles, California, in 2013, and they had a son named Maddox as well as two girls named Zaia and Weslie (the latter of whom was Allison’s kid from a prior relationship).
After Stephen’s death by suicide in December of last year, Allison sent a statement to PEOPLE in which she claimed that “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into.” Above all things, he placed the utmost importance on his family, his friends, and the community he lived in. Leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the rock upon which our household was built, the epitome of a devoted husband and father, and a model for all of his admirers.
“To say that he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she went on to add. It is my firm conviction that we will never let a single day pass without paying tribute to his memory. We ask that you respect our need for privacy at this trying time for our family, particularly for our three children.
She expressed her feelings for her husband in a letter that she sent to him directly, saying, “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

Shortly after Stephen’s passing, Ellen DeGeneres paid tribute to the choreographer by publishing a clip from the last season of her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, on her website. The video included a montage of some of DeGeneres’ greatest memories she had with the late celebrity. One of the highlights is when Stephen teaches her how to dance, and another is when he becomes the DJ for the concert.
“Every time he’s not around, things take on a new feel… “because of the connection that we share, he is not only my friend but also my right-hand man,” she said in the video. “I’m just going to peek over here, but just seeing him makes me chuckle. He makes me laugh out loud with his hilarious antics.
“You are well aware, tWitch, that I adore you very much. When we part ways at the end of the concert, we always tell each other that we love each other, and she went on to reveal that they do this every single day. “He tells me he loves you so much, and all I can say in response is, ‘Love you.’ Because of this, I will never let him completely go from my life. My life will never be the same without him in it.
