It’s official: Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green are going to tie the knot!
The announcement was made on the episode of the iHeartRadio podcast Oldish that aired on Friday. The couple has a kid named Zane Walker together.
Burgess, 38, disclosed to podcast host Randy Spelling that the couple has been engaged for two months, but they have been keeping the news to themselves. He stated that Green, who was 50 at the time, “did the thing” during a surprise birthday party that Burgess had for himself in June.
Green recalls thinking to himself at the time, “That’s the perfect place to do it.” Burgess “never saw it coming,” according to what she claimed at the time.
The couple stated that numerous visitors remained in their house far into the night as the celebration continued into the evening. Green said to Burgess at one time that he had something to show her in the upper room. After he took Burgess into their bedroom, she started getting the impression that “This is a moment.” Burgess had first feared that something was amiss.
Green summoned his children, including his seven-year-old son Journey River, who was carrying a red Cartier box. After that, the actor grabbed the box away from his kid, whom he shares with his ex-wife Megan Fox. She recounted that as he opened it, he asked Burgess, “Will you spend the rest of your life with us?” she was surprised by his question.
Burgess said to Spelling that she was genuinely taken aback by the proposal and had no clue it was coming.
The professional dancer said, “Of course, I said yes,” and went on to say that it was the “most perfect, beautiful moment” since children were participating in the performance. Green also has a son named Kassius Lijah, who is 21 years old, with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil. His other son, Noah Shannon, is 10 years old, and Bodhi Ransom is 9 years old.
After some time had passed, Green revealed to Spelling that he believed his engagement marked the beginning of the “second half” of his life. Green said, “I had this idea in my head that I wanted the kids to be a part of it, because they’re a part of everything,” and “because they’re a part of everything, I wanted them to be a part of it.”

The engagement of the pair was announced on Instagram by Burgess, who posted a video showing the children laying their hands on Green’s hand. Noah, Bodhi, Journey, and Zane were the ones who participated in the news. At the very end, Burgess added her hand and showed the engagement ring that she was wearing.
“Our most recent chapter,” Burgess wrote in his journal.
As for the reason why they delayed two months to make the news public, Burgess said to Spelling that she had a “internal dialogue” to have with herself in order to choose the most appropriate way to announce their engagement. When it comes to using social media, Green stated that there was a generational divide between the two of them. After that, they had a “healthy” talk in which Burgess attempted to find out a clever way to announce, but Green believed there was no need to do so. Burgess and Green both agreed on that point.

According to Burgess, “he was totally open to an announcement,” but they sought to achieve a “middle ground.” Burgess decided that the session should end since none of the suggestions he had heard seemed appropriate.
Burgess recalled: “One day, I said to him, ‘I just don’t love that this is what we’re talking about,’ ” “Rather than fixating on what the proper way to handle this situation is, I’d rather just live in the engagement we have and enjoy that,” she said. The correct path will become obvious just when it is supposed to.”
After Burgess’s divorce from Fox was confirmed in February 2022, Green, who had previously been married to Fox, and Burgess started dating in December 2020. During the launch of the 30th season of Dancing with the Stars, which took place in September 2021, the couple had their first performance together and ended it with a passionate kiss.
A few short weeks after celebrating their son Zane’s first birthday in June, the couple announced their engagement to one another. On the red carpet for the 2023 iHeart Radio Awards, Green revealed to PEOPLE that Burgess will go to extremes in order to pamper Zane.
“She’ll end up buying him a home and other things like that, a whole load of stuff he doesn’t need,” Green said. ” “But she’s just like, ‘Oh my God, I have a 1-year-old,’ so she’s going to go crazy.”
During a 12-minute Instagram Live session in February 2021, the couple expressed how thankful they are to have discovered each other. Green said at the time, “Everyone knows this has been kind of a weird year for me, so what an amazing Valentine’s Day this has been.”
After that, he proceeded to compliment the professional dancer by describing her as a “amazing, considerate, loving, and kind person.”
“And it’s funny — I kind of feel like when you put yourself in a space where you, on some level, decide that you’re going to surround yourself with people that help you move forward on a path instead of pulling you back, that they do that,” he added. “And it’s funny.”
“Sharna has been incredible in my life, and not only for that reason; although, it is something that has played a significant role for me. The former cast member of Beverly Hills, 90210 said, “She’s been so invaluable, she really has.” “And what a wonderful way to start the year 2021 — to find an incredible person and to go into it with a positive feeling and outlook and really a sense that, ‘This could be the year that starts something.'” This has the potential to be the beginning of something really extraordinary.'”
After that, Burgess discussed her feelings towards Green, stating that he had caught her “completely by surprise” and that she had “never known a man like him.”
The Australian dancer continued by saying, “Witnessing someone who is such a good human and an amazing father, and the way that he treats everybody with respect and the way that people treat him is, in itself, proof of the kind of human he is and the type of human that I want in my life,” “Therefore, I am extremely thankful that 2021 got off to such a good start.”
