According to statements made by police on Thursday, an Arizona woman’s purported effort to salvage her marriage earlier this week ended in failure.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the Prescott Police Department said that Christina Pasqualetto had been arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and forgery and theft. These allegations stem from an incident that occurred in Prescott.
The allegations arise from an event that reportedly took place on Wednesday, when Pasqualetto, 62, allegedly drove from Gilbert, Arizona to a house in Prescott that she had formerly lived with her estranged husband, Jon Pasqualetto (which he now exclusively inhabits), and shot him, according to the police. The residence is now occupied by Jon Pasqualetto.
According to what Pasqualetto reportedly told the police officers, she arrived at the residence only a few minutes before midnight, and then the two of them verbally clashed about getting a divorce. In an interview with the police, Pasqualetto reportedly said that she had no desire to end her marriage and obtain a divorce.
“When he told her that he still wanted to get a divorce and wasn’t changing his mind, she produced a handgun and shot him while he was still in bed,” the department added in a media statement.
Police said that after being shot by Pasqualetto, Jon, 80, was able to “knock her down,” which caused her to drop the pistol that she had been holding in her hand.

“At that moment, in an effort to get away from the precarious position, the victim did assault the suspect with his fists and elbows. In the end, the victim was able to flee the scene, and they said that they rushed to a neighbor’s home to get help and then called the police.
Following the arrival of the police at the site, it was found that Jon had been shot in the wrist. He received prompt medical attention at the spot once the injury was discovered. After that, he was taken to a nearby hospital, and after that, he was airlifted to a hospital in the Phoenix region with what were described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”
According to Jon’s statement to the police, he had changed the locks on the property prior to the event; nonetheless, he indicated that the keys and “other items” had been stolen. In addition to that, he disclosed to the investigators that Christina had “stolen checks and forged a check about a week prior for $10,000 and cashed it.”
A deposit slip that matched the transaction was reportedly discovered in Christina’s handbag by the police, and she confessed to forgery and theft during an interview with detectives, who were conducting the investigation. It is not quite apparent at this moment whether or not Christina has legal counsel on her side.
