Paris, Michael’s one and only child, has established herself as a successful performer in the entertainment sector. In March of 2017, she became an IMG Model after signing a deal with the modeling agency. Around the same time, she made her acting debut on the television program “Star” playing a part as a guest star. In 2018, Paris played a part in her first movie, which was titled “Gringo.” Now, Paris is putting the musical abilities that she received from her family to good use by performing, releasing her first album “Wilted” in 2020, three singles in 2022 and 2023, and singing with the band The Soundflowers.

Paris spoke candidly to Rolling Stone in an interview that was published in January 2017 on how she managed her grief after the death of her father when she was 11 years old and how she continues to honor his legacy now. Paris had fifty tattoos at the time, with nine of them paying tribute to her deceased father. “He’s brought me nothing but joy,” Paris said, “so why not have constant reminders of joy?”

On the occasion of what would have been her cherished father’s 65th birthday, Paris once again paid homage to him on Instagram. A video that was uploaded on the 29th of August, 2023 showed Paris posing for the camera in the dressing room immediately after one of her performances. She started out by stating:

It’s my dad’s birthday today, so happy birthday to him! And when he was still alive, he detested it if somebody acknowledged his birthday, wished him a “Happy Birthday,” or celebrated it in any way — he wanted nothing to do with any of it. Because he didn’t want us to celebrate his birthday in any way, shape, or form, he didn’t even want us to know when it was. He didn’t even want us to know when his birthday was.

She went on to say that she was saddened by the fact that “social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days and if you don’t wish someone a “Happy Birthday” via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, that you don’t care about them.”

After that, Paris continued her remarks in the video by stating that “people lose their f— minds” and “tell me to kill myself” in previous years when she had neglected to celebrate Michael’s birthday on social media. Paris was referring to the fans of Michael’s music. Paris added, “They’re basically telling me that I don’t love my own father, based on what I post on Instagram — so I made you guys a little video and I hope you enjoy it,” before a footage of her addressing the crowd during a performance started to play. “They’re basically telling me that I don’t love my own father,” Paris continued.

Paris said from the stage, “It’s also my dad’s birthday. Because of him, I am able to stand here on this platform in front of you and shout into a microphone, and he would have been 65 years old today. He poured 50 years’ worth of blood, sweat, and tears, as well as love and passion, into doing what he did. Therefore, I owe him absolutely everything.”

The video then switched back to Paris in the dressing area, where she had a few words to share with individuals who identified as “MJ superfan.” She urged them to put their efforts behind philanthropic initiatives that her father showed interest in rather than trashing other people online. The tape then concluded.

“These were topics that he cherished and in which he had a great deal of interest. I’m not in a position to speak for him since I’m a different person and I don’t know, but I have no doubt that he would have enjoyed anything like that. At the very end of the video, she made a statement in which she suggested that the viewer do the following “if you want to pay homage and honor him on his birthday.”

The support and praise of fans came quickly for Paris, with one remark stating, “You’re a Total Class Act! He’d be so, so, so proud of you,” one person said, while another user added, “It’s very evident that he loved his kids, and it’s very clear that his kids continue to love and respect him in the work that they do.” He’d be Super Proud of You.
