Because the room was so still and silent after the mother had given birth to her child, she was at a loss to understand what was taking place. She had a terrible fear of breaking the quiet since she did not know what words to use.

After unsuccessfully attempting to conceive for nine months in 2018, Eliza Jamkochian Bahneman, age 36, and her husband, Erik Bahneman, age 41, received the wonderful news that they were going to be parents.

Bahneman’s excitement at the news of her pregnancy led her to share it with a few of her close friends, as well as her sister and her sister-in-law. They were all expecting children around the same time, and their due dates were somewhat close together. The expectant mother couldn’t wait for her child to enter this wonderful world and take everyone by surprise when he or she arrived.

The little girl ultimately made the decision to leave the warmth and protection of her mother’s womb, but she did so one month sooner than was anticipated. In October 2018, Isabella, who also goes by the nickname “Bella,” was born.

The labor for this delivery lasted for 12 hours, and the baby finally arrived weighing 5 and a half pounds. But instead of being a joyful experience, it turned out to be a disappointing one.

The fact that the room was dark and silent, as well as the fact that Bahneman heard whispering, frightened her. When she reflected on the event, she said at the time:

“Why isn’t anyone thanking me?'” is what she said. Why does it seem like my hubby is completely lost and terrified? I don’t understand why my mother won’t look at me.

Following that, Bella was transferred to the newborn intensive care unit, also known as the NICU. The infant was confirmed to have a rare genetic condition known as Treacher Collins after being subjected to a battery of testing and examinations. This prevents the facial bones from developing in the correct manner as the child grows.

Because of this, Isabella was born unable to hear and with a mouth that was unusually tiny for her size. She also has difficulty swallowing. This marked the beginning of a difficult journey that would include a number of operations as well as hurried visits to the hospital for emergent conditions.

Bella was required to participate in a wide variety of therapeutic interventions. This consisted of speech and occupational therapy, as well as instruction in music, to help her compensate for her hearing loss.

The mother has expressed a desire to continue spreading awareness about Treacher Collins syndrome and educating others about the condition. In general, Bahneman hopes that people will be more compassionate toward those who are dealing with this circumstance. After all, this is the one and only thing to do when you come across a person who is extraordinary in both appearance and personality.
