Before her baby becomes “too cool” for her, Hilarie Burton is making sure to spend as much time as she can with him now.

On Friday, the alum of One Tree Hill, who is 41 years old, shared a carousel of photographs on her Instagram account from the trip that she took with her son Augustus ‘Gus,’ who is 13 years old.

In the pictures, Burton is seen walking while sticking her tongue out for a self-portrait as Gus walks by her and turns his back to the camera. Another photograph shows the mother and son out for lunch together, and then afterwards at an outdoor play together.

In yet another image, Gus is seen donning a helmet and brandishing a sword. Beginning her comment with, “I was given great advice a while back by my dear friend @tara_schafer to take solo trips with each of my kids whenever I could,” Burton shared a photo of herself with her three children.

“The personalized care that you provide is of utmost importance. So Gus and I drove all the way to Manteo to see @thelostcolony perform last night,” she said in the caption of the photo, and then she went on to tell a story about the performance itself.

I’ll take these dates whenever I can get them since I’m very sure that pretty soon this youngster will be too cool for his old mom. Xo,” was the last comment she made on the post.

Burton and her husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan are the parents of their child, George, who is now 5 years old. In 2019, the couple finally tied the knot.

In June, Burton showed up for the premiere of The Walking D.e.a.d: Dea.d City to show her support for Morgan. While there, she spoke with PEOPLE about how much her kid looks up to his father. When the former cast member of One Tree Hill was asked if Gus felt it was nice that his dad was in The Walking D.ead, he related a sweet tale.

“A friend came over recently, and he was like, ‘Why do you have a poster of your dad?’ ” she recounted. “Our son has a poster of Negan in his bedroom,” she continued. “Why do you have a poster of your dad?”

“Because my dad’s awesome,” Gus sweetly said.

In September of last year, Burton discussed the fondness for Elvis that her son Gus has. On her Instagram account, the actress posted a picture of her boyfriend Gus wearing a varsity jacket, skinny jeans, and black boots. His hair was styled in a manner reminiscent to Elvis Presley’s iconic look.

They won’t even know what hit them when they’re in seventh grade! #firstdayofschool, is what Burton captioned the photo of her kid laughing with his hands clasped together as if he were applauding on the first day of school.

Gus’s appearance was somewhat influenced by the Elvis movie directed by Baz Luhrmann, which he saw over and over again. The previous evening, Burton reflected on her son’s love of both the movie and Elvis Presley himself by posting a carousel of photographs and videos on Instagram and tagging him in each one.

“Tomorrow is our son’s first day in the seventh grade. “And here he is, watching @elvismovie for the 12th time (no joke! ), with tears in his eyes,” she said in the caption of a photo of him watching the film.

“Pretty much every time we’ve seen it, we’ve shed a tear. She stated in her Instagram post, “I’m going to need everyone to tell @bazluhrmann how much I love him for making this movie.” When Gus was six years old, he went through a significant Elvis Presley phase. Every day, we tuned in to listen to @sxmelvisradio. It is clear that his hairstyle and his choice of clothing were inspired.

The conversation continued with Burton revealing that Gus “was brave enough to get up in front of the school with his raspy little voice and sing #foolsrushin” at one point. It was the fandom of young children.
