Both Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross were working on the set of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” at the time they first met. Elliott couldn’t build up the nerve to speak to Ross, who was the starring woman, and as a result, he was really frightened by her. Despite the fact that he fell immediately in love with Ross, he felt extremely afraid.
However, in 1978, when both were working on the set of “The Legacy,” Elliott made the decision to jump, and the two bonded with each other right away.
The actress was already married five times when Elliott and his fiancée finally tied the knot in the late 1980s. For Elliott, this was his first marriage. It goes without saying that the couple has been married for more than thirty years. When asked how he and his wife had managed to keep their marriage together for so long, the actor credited their hard work. To quote him directly, he stated:

Elliott, who has worked with notable actors such as Jeff Bridges and Mel Gibson, has remarked that the foundation of his formula for success is love for one another. In addition to that, it is having the desire to be married and, once again, not being scared to put in the effort that is required.
In addition to the amount of time he has been married, Elliott reached another significant age milestone on August 9, 2023, when he became 79 years old.
Elliott also said that “staying out of town” was one of the reasons for the success of his marriage, citing this as one of the reasons in his statement:
“…we don’t get ourselves into too much trouble. We do not trust everything that is printed in those rags (expletive). And we put forth a lot of effort. We have a lot of similarities, Katharine and I.
Cleo Rose is Elliott and Ross’s lone child together, and she is now an adult. She followed in the very successful footsteps of her parents and made her way into the entertainment world, although she opted to pursue a career in music rather than acting. In due time, she established herself as a successful musician.
In 2015, the actor from “The Big Lebowski” stated how emotionally invested he and his wife are in their relationship with their kid. In addition to that, he expressed how profoundly they feel for her.
He has said that he likes spending time with her regardless of what it is that they are doing together, but that he especially enjoys going on walks and digging for rocks close to his house in Malibu.
