This is the astonishing moment when a youngster who had Turkey’s first facial transplant sees his new face for the first time after undergoing surgery.

When he was only 40 days old, Ugur Acar was in a home fire that left him with significant burns to his face. He is now 19 years old.

23 days ago, he went to the School of Medicine at Akdeniz University, which is located in the southern part of the nation, to undergo a cosmetic treatment to fix his face.

Today, he glanced into a mirror with some trepidation to see what the doctors had been able to accomplish, and he was pleased with the end result.

He said, “I would like to thank all of my doctors.” It could not have turned out any better.’

Mr. Acar shared with us that he often fantasizes about tying the knot.

Before looking into the mirror, he gave his face a clean shave since, in the three weeks that had passed after the procedure, he had been required to cultivate a beard in order to protect his skin from being irritated.

However, the doctors cautioned him that he would not be able to show any emotion with his face for another half a year.

“Don’t do any mimics because it will take six months for the nerve to heal,” Dr. Omer Ozkan said.

“It’s OK if you laugh, cry, and get angry after the first six months,” he said.

The facial tissue of a donor who was 45 years old was successfully transplanted into Mr. Acar by the medical staff.

According to Israfil Kurtcepe, the rector of the university hospital, there will be professionals available to assist him in any way that he requires.

“Ugur was prepared for this process, and everything went well,” he stated.

It was determined that he did not need any psychiatric or psychological treatment. Simply being there for him and making sure he didn’t need any kind of mental help was the only reason we were there.

We are going to continue to be there for him, and we are going to assist him in adapting to his new life, and we are going to speak with him about his personal issues, if there are any.

The physicians have indicated that they want to release Mr. Acar from the hospital in about 45 days.

The operation that took place one month ago raised the total number of face transplants that have been performed across the globe to twenty.

In 2005, a French lady called Isabelle Dinoire became the recipient of the first-ever treatment of this kind, which included the transplantation of a portion of her face.
